Anyone ever been to any of Germany's wine regions? I may be there in June, and am looking for itinerary suggestions.

I have been to the Ahr region, just outside of Bonn/Köln. I have had quite a few wines (pinot noir) from there and enjoy them. One of these days I will bring some back with me and try them here to see if it they are as good when drinking outside of Germany and away from friends there. I would recommend at least trying one in a restaurant in Germany. They are fairly inexpensive, particularly as the Euro weakens against the dollar. I haven't found any in the U.S. (except one nasty one at Trader Joe's, poured it down the sink).

You might try emailing Scott Harvey for suggestions. His email address is in the contact us tab. Scott studied winemaking in Germany.

Cool, thanks. The Ahr was at the top of my list, for geographical reasons. Do you happen to remember any stand-outs, from the places you visited?

I went to a small town for dinner at a restaurant. I don't recall the name, but their wine was one that one of my friends in Germany had recommended. It was about a 30-45 minute drive from Bonn. My work colleagues set up the dinner and drove so I don't remember the name or the town. Have fun.

A 20-month bump!

In any case, figured better to bump an existing thread than make a new one. My fiance and I will be spending ~4 days in the Mosel Valley in Germany during our honeymoon, and I'm wondering if anybody knows of any wineries that are particularly worth visiting (I imagine we will be tasting a ton of Riesling, with which I am only minimally familiar). I see that Scott Harvey mentioned Sybille Kuntz in another thread, and also have Dr Loosen and Heymann Lowenstein on the list of potential visits as well, but if anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them.
