I can't order wine out here, but I bought this riesling at the liquor store a while back.

My Dad's a sucker for rieslings, so when there was a thing going on at his place, I took the bottle intending to share it with him.

Well we didn't get to it that night, but he ended up getting through it. Without me.

So keep it all for yourself.

Sadly no shipping to Michigan I remember having one of their rieslings (maybe '07?) not too long ago and that it was fairly tasty. At ~$9 shipped to your door, I would have been in for one

I have enjoyed this brand in the past and this is a good price - they do make a Dry Riesling too so bummer it isn't offered here with the regular. Also (alas) the shipping list is very limited :-(

Pacific Rim's online site: $10 a bottle.

http://www.nexternal.com/pacificrim/2010-riesling-p36.aspx

As it's a lower alcohol content, would you say it's sweeter than your average riesling? I see it classified as "Medium Dry"...

Still no shipping to NM But as it was mentioned you more than likely can find these at you local store, except I can not find the sparklers at any of my local stores. I have 3 of their rieslings in my cellar now of different varieties.

I purchased my Pacific Rim at Whole Foods, but you can also find them in Walgreens, Costco, Kellys, and Sunflower Market. I believe I paid around $9.99 or $10.99 a bottle.

a few notes on this particular 2010 Riesling...Nicoalas the winemaker is over in Germany right now.

Why we make this Riesling: This is the newest wine of our portfolio (first vintage was 2009) and quite frankly is an attempt to fill a gap in our lineup as well as capitalizing on the largest Riesling category in the country. The Riesling sweetness profile is sandwiched between the Dry Riesling and the Sweet Riesling. This style is what people use to call Johannesburg Riesling before 2005, the last year the name for which the moniker was authorized.

Grape Sourcing: This is mainly a Yakima Valley blend with much fruit from the Hogue ranches, and Black Rock vineyard.

2010 vintage fun fact: Very cool vintage, so we have left a bit more RS – about 3%. The main grape sourcing for this wine has been Hogue ranches for two years – they seem to be our Apricot secret ingredient.

Although I'm not too fond of the higher RS Rieslings, the pH on this is nice, so I'm happy to try it. My cousin and sister are just learning to enjoy wine, and they always mention they like "sweeter" Rieslings. Although this may not be "sweet", I think they will enjoy it. For some reason they trust me to choose their wines!

when you order from their site you get free shipping on six or more bottles, don't know if they can do all states from there, and it costs a bit more, but you can mix, regular, dry and sweet reislings as well as some other wines, and my order came really fast, just FYI

I tried their sweet riesling a few years ago. It was an obscenely sugary wine. So if this is a compromise between their sweet and dry as the description says, I'd still be wary of the sweetness.

You can also get these from wine.com for $9.29/bottle with 1 cent shipping available if you buy a case (can be a mixed case, doesn't have to be all 1 wine). The woot price works out to $9.17 if you buy 6, $8.75 if you buy 12.

wine-searcher lists 6 merchants offering it for $7.99 or less although shipping may be costly.

I have one bottle of this and apparently put mine under a duplicate listing on CT.

EDIT: wine.com also offers the dry and sweet versions for the same $9.29 price as well as PR Gewurz, so for an extra $6.49 (plus sales tax, if applicable) vs. the wine.woot price for a case you can mix and match all 3 versions and the Gewurz, plus it will ship to just about any state that normally allows it.

I'm very inexperienced with wines, but I stumbled on the sweet riesling at a fairly nice restaurant while working on the road and had to track it down. Isn't it funny when you discover something that costs $9 a glass is $10 a bottle?

I have not tried this one yet and the fact that woot has a Riesling makes me want to jump on it but.. I don't know. $55 for 6 bottles is about $9.10/bottle. That is a good price, but I know it only costs about $10 or $11 locally.. and technically if I wanted that much wine a local store gives 10% off any 6 bottles. I guess you don't pay tax though.

So - I can say this is probably an incredible wine.. can't say the deal is showstopping, but it *is* a deal. Maybe I'll pick up this bottle tomorrow and see if I want 6 more tonight

$7.99 at Costco...so this price seems equivalent:

http://www.goodcheapvino.com/pinot-noir-wines-top-our-bargain-selections-of-the-week-october-31/

"Pacific Rim Riesling $7.99 Costco (Joe’s Pick)
Pacific Rim 2010 RieslingThis is the number one bargain wine in Wine Enthusiasts Top 100 Wines of the Year. I’m recommending this wine with reservation. It has too much sweetness for me so I won’t be buying more, but many folks like a tad of sweetness in Rieslings. The wine has good Riesling flavors and with the sweetness will go well with spicy foods or foods that have some sweetness to them."

Let me know when you start shipping to more than only 14 states, specifically NM. Then you'll have at least 1 most customer.

Not shipping to my state, but um ... I think that's OK.

Pretty poor showing on CT and an average price of $11/bottle, but with lots of places pricing it on both coasts under $8 ... and here it's what? About $9 a bottle?

Thanks, but no.

BevMo has this for $6/btl during their 5-cent sale. It's nice for the price, but this is one of the only times in years that I will say, this is not a deal.

The shipping states change with each offer as it depends on the states for which the winery is licensed to ship.

No offense to wine.woot and WD, but this is a pretty poor offering. This stuff is widely available at pretty similar price and the ship-to list is horrendous. "Thanks" for finally offering a semi-sweet white (which several of us have been requesting for quite some time) that barely ships to anyone and can be found anywhere.

Ah! Finally a Woot Wine I am not sad that I can't have shipped to me. The local wine store sells this for $6.99 a bottle, but I think their sweet Riesling is terrible. There is a difference between sweet and so sweet you think you go into diabetic shock with one sip.

Signatures are harshing my mellow.

Does the "taxsucks" code work to give $5 off on wine woot orders? (Usually on orders over $45)

catfishhunters99

Based on the acid/sugar ratio this should be a medium sweet Riesling. I'd try matching it with curried chicken, or some other fairly spicy lighter food.

I'd order this but my state has mysteriously disappeared from the shipping list. I checked and my state still clearly allows wine shipments. So it has absolutely nothing to do with "stick-in-the-mud buzzkilling state legislators". Sad, I've ordered quite a bit from woot lately to get our collection going... Guess I won't be anymore.

Just because your state is not on this offering, has no bearing on whether it will be on further wine.woot offerings. Licensing is done a winery by winery basis. This winery has not obtained shipping licenses for a large number of states and therefore the ship-to list is very small.

In defense of the sweet riesling - it's a great wine to hook your soda-chugging friends. When a friend of mine was trying to get me into wine and I just wasn't taking to it very much, she had me try Pacific Rim's sweet riesling, and I really liked it. (I primarily drink Mountain Dew, one of the sweetest sodas out there.) I've come a long way since then, and now it's a bit on the sweet side for my tastes, so I treat it as a dessert wine.

That said, I've had the "regular" riesling as well. The regular, in my opinion, is about what you'd expect from a riesling as far as sweetness goes. I enjoyed it. I haven't had their dry riesling.

I would be in for one, but I can get it for $8/bottle at my local liquor store.

EDIT: Oh heyyyy, today is my first woot anniversary! Hooray!

This is the #1 wine on Wine Enthusiast's "Top 100 Best Buys of 2011" list, with a score of 90. [Edit: hadn't read the description - d'oh!]

Hard to argue at this price, except that yeah, there isn't much of a discount here (cf. $8/bottle at K&L). You really have to go in on a full case to make it a deal on shipping.

Has Virginia been suddenly removed from states allowing wine deliveries? We just had a shipment a month or so ago and now it no longer shows on the states list (and I can't find anything about a change on the "Compliance" link). Any ideas?! Thanks!!

Good Morning everyone, these guys had major traditional distribution duties to fill after the sale from Bonny Doon. However, they are now working on opening up their direct shipping list and ecommerce platform.

Nice to have them with us on Wine.Woot! again after their previous sparkling wine offer was such a success. http://wine.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=21620

Hi Guys,,, this is Thomas Bailey from Pacific Rim Winemakers... Just wanted to let everyone know that this particular vintage is nearly sold out, and that our Pacific Rim Riesling is not easily available to find in mainstream retail stores(like our Sweet Riesling)....which has tremendous account base.
That is why you will find our Riesling, from time-to-time at large discount liqour stores or even COSTCO... as these stores cherry pick highly rated wines, charge little margin, and move LARGE volume.
As a small producer of world class Riesling, you sometimes have to feed the big fish in order to recoop your investment(glass, labels, grapes,,,,etc.), so you can turn around and make another fantastic vintage of wine!! We certainly have a goal to make our wines available to as many people as possible.
That is why we are applying to direct ship to more & more states meanwhile slowly building our account base. Wine.woot! is an awesome partner in helping these great wines from Pacific Rim more available to the country!

In addition to claiming the #1 Top 100 wine of the year from Enthuiast, the 2009 vintage was named the #2 wine of 2010 from Wine Enthus. & given 92pts... Back to back record off accolades.

It is a very refreshing wine, lightly sweet on the front end, a lush mid-palate feel - finishing crip and finsihes off dry. The lower Ph gives an overall impression of subtle to little sweetnes, balanced with a lively acidity which pairs nicely with all manners of cuisine or enjoyed on its own on the patio. I hope you enjoy!
