Slingshot Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The Harder They Fall
It’s all clear, guys. You shouldn’t have any trouble from that giant any longer.
Cut off his head? Why the heck would I do a thing like that? No, no, you’ve got that guy all wrong. Sure, yeah, he talked a good game with his “challenge me” this and “send out your champion” that but, as it turns out, he’s not such a bad guy.
No, I didn’t threaten to “smite” him. I just offered him a handshake, a bottle of 2010 Slingshot Cabernet, and some conversation. See, where you guys messed up is that you played into his hand. He wanted you to be scared of him. He’s spent his whole life being the big scary giant because that’s the only way anyone would respect him. That poor guy endured so many years of being picked on and mocked for his height when he was young, he felt like he had no other choice in life but to be mean and nasty.
After a couple of glasses of soft tannins, subtle berry and black cherry flavors, and a long vanilla and herb finish, though, he really started to open up. He’s actually quite warm and friendly when you get to know him. Heck of a chess player, too. And, boy, does he love the lyre! Quite the aficionado, in fact. We sang some songs, talked about life, and nobody had to get their head bashed in! Not bad, don’t you think?
Crafted to be nicely drinkable upon its release in the spring of 2010, this wine has the structure to age beautifully in the bottle for many years. In the mouth it feels round, with soft tannins punctuated by just enough acidity. Subtle berry and black cherry flavors combine with a touch of dark caramel and coffee. The long finish lingers with suggestions of vanilla and herbs.
