Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc

Leaving the nest

In a perfect world this wine would stay at the Long Meadow Ranch forever. But this isn’t a perfect world.

The Long Meadow Ranch is where this 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley was born and raised. It’s a gentle white with fruity flavors: lime zest, peach blossom, passion fruit, all springing from a nose of jasmine and melon. It would go perfect with a well-prepared chicken dish, or maybe some delicious steamed vegetables. Why? Because chicken and vegetables are two things that this wine knows intimately.

We should clarify that we’re not being metaphorical. The grapes that would become the 2009 Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley started life surrounded by olive orchards and horse pens, chicken coops and vegetable fields. The Long Meadow Ranch is a certified organic farming system (no herbicides or pesticides here!) that uses practically everything it creates. Sounds almost perfect, doesn’t it?

Well, you see, that’s actually the problem: you’re going to feel a little bit guilty about making your purchase. After all, what you’re essentially doing is removing the wine from its home – an organic utopia – and relocating it to your place of residence, which is, most-likely, a far less wholesome environment.

But you shouldn’t think about it like that. Instead, consider yourself a mentor. This wine will have to be exposed to the real world at some point, and when it is, you’ll be there to guide it. Probably into a glass. But hey, guidance is guidance, right?

2009 Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley 6-Pack

Layers of freshness and vibrancy are offered up in the nose - green melon, jasmine, honeysuckle, just cut flowers and a whiff of wildflower honey. These flavors expand to include lime zest, peach blossom, passion fruit and star fruit on the palate. The texture is silky and delicate, but still compelling. Perfectly mouthwatering, this wine invites sip after sip.
