Oh crap. Um, hey, Zin. Hey, Barbera. I guess I sort of ordered you both at the same time, huh? Man, this is awkward.

Okay, look, I’m just going to be honest with the two of you. I’ve been drinking both of you behind each others backs. I know it’s wrong and I’ve felt horrible about it for months, really, I have. But the temptation was so great, it seemed worth the risk! I guess it was only a matter of time before you both ended up on my doorstep in a Lang Wines Zin/Barbera Mixed Case. I must seem like the biggest jerk in the world.

But wait! Maybe this isn’t such a bad deal, you know? Maybe it’s more of an opportunity. After all, there’s six bottles of you, 2007 Lang Wines Amador County Zinfandel, lookin’ all full-bodied and silky-smooth with your raspberry, black cherry, slow-cooked fruits and clove aromas and pomegranate juice, cherry and strawberry flavors. There’s six bottles of you, too, 2007 Lang Wines Amador County Barbera, and you know how your smooth, delicious palate of blueberry jam, cocoa and toast, not to mention your vanilla, bacon and raspberry scents, drive me wild. The twelve of you plus the one of me could make for an interesting evening, don’t you think?

What am I saying? Of course you’ll stay with me tonight. You’re bottles of wine and I’m a lonely man who talks to you as if you’re women who would have anything to do with “creepy talks-to-wine guy.” Let’s go inside and get comfortable, shall we?

2007 Lang Wines Amador County Zinfandel – Oakmont Vineyards

This 2007 Zinfandel is robust and hearty. Aromas are of raspberries, black cherries, slow-cooked fruits and clove. The wine is rich, full-bodied and silky-smooth. Flavors of pomegranate juice, cherries and strawberries lead seamlessly to a long finish that is firm and smoky. Well-balanced and supported by a firm background of toasty French oak which also provides hints of licorice and vanilla.

Smooth and delicious, its aromas are of vanilla, bacon and raspberry together with hints of cranberry, campfire and mint, all leading to a palate of blueberry jam, cocoa and toast with a juicy even zippy finish. The most food-friendly of red wines, our Barbera pairs well with just about anything…but it certainly “sings” for Italian. Buon Gusto! – Mark McKenna, winemaker.
