Armida Winery Poizin and Antidote - 3 Pack

Drink to my un-health

We get by with a little help from our friends.

Oh no! My friends, I have been poisoned! Or Poizin-ed!

How can I be sure? Well, before even drinking from my glass of wine, I was confronted by the aromas of fresh plum, bing cherry, spicy peppercorn and zinberry! Then, upon taking my first sip, I was immediately overtaken by the flavors of milk chocolate and sweet oak. The long vanilla finish confirmed my fears. These are the very tasting notes of death, my friends! So, please, act now, for I have little time left! Which of you will come hold me and speak sweet nothings into my ear as I pass into the afterlife? Which of you will confess your undying love to me? Who will be the first to admit that, despite pretending to dislike it, you are secretly envious of my goatee?

Anyone? No?

Fine, then just give me the Antidote! That’s right, nothing but a forty-five-day steel-tank-fermented dry Pinot Gris can help me now! Yes, I require a glass of beautifully complex wine with a nose of cantaloupe and Meyer lemon and a creamy mouthfeel like pear flambé! No, but don’t just hand it to me! Pour it gently into my mouth, maybe even drink some yourself, and then kiss me.

Brenda? Laura? Anyone? C’mon, ladies! I’m dying here!

2009 Zinfandel – Poizin – Sonoma County

A lush, delicious and “serious” wine in a fun package! The nose is fruit driven with fresh plum, bing cherry, spicy peppercorn and zinberry. The mouthfeel is soft with a hint of milk chocolate, sweet oak, and a long vanilla finish. The deep color and firm structure are enhanced by the addition of the Petite Sirah and the firm tannins softened by moderate oak. Enjoy this poizin with caution; it is The Wine to Die for.

2010 “Antidote” Pinot Gris Russian River Valley

This wine is a dry Pinot Gris that is the perfect “Antidote” to our poizin. This wine was steel tank fermented for 45 days, then left on the lees until bottling. The extended lees (dead yeast cells) contact helped to create a beautifully complex wine with a bright nose of cantaloupe and meyer lemon, and a creamy mouthfeel reminiscent of pear flambé. Drink this wine alone as an aperitif, or pair with your favorite aged cheeses.
