This is one of those things if you told me existed, I wouldn't have believed you because I'd never thought about it before. I thought it was a birdcage and got confused.

So it is a cage for corks....ok.

It looks like a slim birdcage. People would think I buried my bird under all the corks. o.O

This would have been ok for an hour or two during the woot-off....

I think I should point out that this bamboo cork collector is NOT for collections of bamboo corks. In fact, bamboo corks don't exist.

There was a used one---"Like new" it says---for $5.97 with prime shipping. I picked it up. I am actually collecting corks so this will be of use.

It would let them dry out, rather than getting all smelly in something closed up. Will the opening allow for champagne corks?

Watch out on the plastic models -- if the opener pokes all the way thru, they will leak. The 'real' corks 'heal' most opener holes.

I have been waiting for this. I have bought 6 woot roombas and they just push the corks around. I would try the dysons, but i dont want to pause my roku.

For those of you curious how this contraption works:

Wine corks spend most of their lives learning how to go into bottles, so they never really learn how to go out. When one of them stumbles on the opening, they crawl right inside of the cage. Once they are inside, though, they can't seem to find the way out. The exception is younger corks who are small enough to leave the opening easily, because you want to let them grow into an adult cork before capturing them.

Why would you use a cork collector? Everyone knows you should soak the cork instead.

I'm actually considering getting a couple of these as gifts. Does anyone know if the bottom or side opens up for easy removal of those corks destined for craft work?

My father-in-law makes things out of used corks. This would be perfect for him. I would get it for Fathers Day, but I don't like to encourage that kind of behavior.

My local market collects used corks for recycling, as do some Whole Foods I believe. Here's a Huff Post article about cork recycling.

I use a wine stopper on the rare occasion when there's wine left in the bottle.

We got a carefully constructed window out of an old farmhouse decorated with a hundred or so used corks. Blech!. One man's cutesy craftsy crap is another man's tacky crap.

This would be cool if you think collecting corks is cool. Just don't gift it (or your corks) unless you are positive that that person has the same hobby.

Will champagne corks fit through the top?
