Oh man, a Ty Caton?! I'm in for one. The last woot xmas wine was fantastic! I can't wait to try this one. Ty Caton is always a no-brainer right?

Is it amusing to any one else that this is labeled 'Ty's Red'? Aren't all of Ty's red wines Ty's Reds?

I like to talk about wine, but I'd rather drink it.

You think it's possible to compete with Sparky???

Debating on getting this one or not.... seems a little pricey for something that appears to be just a table wine.

We just opened a Blitzen last night and finished it tonight. Excellent wine for the dollar! A no-brainer unless you are completely out of wine storage. Heck, we opened 3 bottles tonight(1 corked) and still don't have any significant space for new purchases. S[torage]IWBM.

I like to talk about wine, but I'd rather drink it.

This might be the TyC to get since the QPR is destined to be better than his other offerings.

I enjoyed the 2008 & 2009 and I recall they had a much larger syrah component in the blend, What was the reasoning for switching it mostly to CS?

The 2005 Field Blend was 42% Cab, and it was very good. No budget or room, so I'm in

Yes, here is the 2009 breakdown (from CT):

| Varietal | 62% Syrah, 26% Merlot, 6%
Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petite Sirah
| Farming Practices | Certified Sustainable
| Appellation | Sonoma Valley
| Region | Estate Grown, Caton Vineyard
| Alcohol | 14.4%
| Production | 751 Cases
| Vintage | 2009
| Bottled | December 15, 2010

Still the exact same alcohol % as 2010 even with the CS/Syrah swap.

This may get me. I have a $5 coupon and I absolutely loved the Field Blend (2 left -- one from my hoarding and the other from the lovely bahwm and ddog). Probably in for one. SWMBO is going to hang my ass.

Edit: in for one. Assist goes to the rough week I had last week plus the rough week ahead and a big glass of Chardonnay.

Over the years I've learned a valuable lesson about Ty Caton Wines on Woot - If I don't order the max, I end up regretting it later! In for 3.

I've got an o5 field blend red red still tasting good. So I would say drink between now and 7 years. If you drink this now, decant first for 20-30 min or use a decants.

Some J Christopher would be an excellent black box purchase--best steak pinot I've ever had...

And I went in for two within seconds. The Racchus and the TyTanium I've had were both spectacular.

Hi Ty, Can you shed some light on what exactly "certified sustainable" means, out of curiosity?
Apologies if you have answered that question a million times.

I just shared a 2006 TyTanium over the weekend. Everyone loved it. Warm tannins and pepper laid over dark fruit with low residual sugar. It drank like meeting an old friend after a prolonged absence.

You can never go wrong with Ty . . . in for three! My cellar was completely out of Caton, except for a few bottles of TyTanium I'm saving for the long haul. I was thrilled to see Ty's Red on here today!

I've stopped counting after:
2 shirt woots
25 woots
85 wine.woots (including the FIRST Woot Cellars box set)

Just lurking here here...have no more room in the cellar but am very curious about this offering.

Ty! Auto-buy!

Regardless of whether it's sweet or dry, this simply is something I must try. No matter the reason or the season, you wouldn't want to look back thinking, "why oh why?" So, as you can see, take it from me, it's always smart to trust in Ty.

The x3 of 2009 Ty's Red didn't last the summer. In for x3 more this time.

The only thing more certain than Linsay Lohan ending up back in jail is the regret you will feel if you don't buy this.......

...and even then, you will feel regret if you don't buy 3.

Do we have any unofficial rats on the 2010? I imagine some wooters are part of the Ty wine club and may have already had it.

WD, is Blitzen ever coming back...ever? I've been waiting since I was out of commission the day of sale, and have seen neither hide nor hair. I've been depressed for months now, even more so after every subsequent w.wootoff where I expect it to appear, only to be brutally disappointed. Tis cruel, sir.
