My grandfather lived out there. I went out for his funeral. The whole area is simply beautiful. I would love to live out there one day.

I've had the pleasure of tasting through some vintages of Red Zone. Great concentration of fruit. The wines taste "real"... if that makes much sense.

Also, love trademark guitar on the bottles. Fun to see how wine is a "second life" for many individuals.

thanks for jumping on board. a few questions: 1. my undertanding is that new oak tends to impart the "vanillaish" flavor to wine which i do not like. is this true? 2. what was the percentage of new/neutral oak used? 3. what is the winery price for these? I cannot access your site from my work (even though woot is ok---go figure).

I don't mean to be a negative Nancy, but it seems to me that wines from Paso Robles have become exponentially more expensive over the last 6 or 7 years...

I used to work closely with McClean Vineyards out of Templeton. It's cool to see many of the small-batch producers out of the region practicing this sort of minimalist approach to winemaking. Letting the land speak for itself can often seem like a sort of cliché, but there's a ton of truth behind it.

These wines, do not have vanilla overtones, as they were mostly one and two year old French oak barrels which I personally find to be the best.

In for one

Denis, one of the ongoing discussions these days is cork v. screwcap. Many people have weighed in... what are your thoughts? Do you bottle certain wines under different closures?

It sounds like this is right up my alley, but I do have to ask that one question....

What is the drinking window on these? My cellar is getting jammed, and with this seemingly never ending woot off, I need to how much to buy.

It's not cliche, to make natural/hand crafted wines and it never will be... my vineyard is called Old School Wineyard. Even with sourced fruit, if the grapes are good, there your go.

I'll answer two questions here:

I use both cork and screw caps. The Red Zone is my first use of caps and I have found them to be very good, and never a spoiled bottle. I do like corks too, but the convenience of the cap is ne plus ultra. And wait people love them.

These wines, will be drinkable for quite a few years to come, so don't fret about having to drink them up right now.

Would love to see this winery on a normal wine.woot so we could chew the fat for a while.
