For those suffering from allergies, a potential remedy is eating locally grown honey. Since the local bees are more likely getting pollen from local plants, those compounds can be in that honey.

I've had two people recently comment on how it has helped them. However, there are some issues to be aware of.

#1 is that if you are extremely sensitive, it could lead to an extreme reaction. So probably not a good idea to try it if you have extremely allergic reactions. Also, no honey, in any form, should be given to babies younger than one.

#2 is that there are no real studies to prove it yet. But then, people swear by it.

Especially since there's a Joe's Crab Shack opening in Omaha today? Surprised you aren't one of the 1st 100 people in line (they get free crabs!).

I know. I'm disgusted with this town. Though I do LOVE the Crab Shack commercials that talk about who wants a mediocre dinner and the giant crab claw comes out of nowhere and whacks the guy. The Irony of those make me tremble with glee. Joes is marginally better than Long John Silvers. Which, is pretty sad.

Yes and no. However, the bidding on the dinner reached record levels, and we wound up offering a second one. Great news for the Shakespeare treasury, not so good for my psyche. The second group is mostly theater people. Nice folks, but scheduling around their various theater commitments will probably be hideously difficult. And one of them doesn't like half the things I cook. How on earth am I supposed to do a 7 course meal without onions?

SWMBO informs me that my response was not clear. Dinner offered, Sanderson group did not bid.

You will be pleased to know I ate something with bleu cheese last week and enjoyed it. Then again there wasn't much bleu cheese and it was in conjunction with buffalo sauced chicken, which is already an established "I'm ok with that" situation.

So I saw bowtie posted some info on dual-booting an tablet to WebOS/Android. I was wondering if anybody could point me to a good guide for rooting my phone/flashing a kernel for an Android 2.3.6 phone. Note that SuperOneClick doesn't work since the zergrush exploit was fixed after 2.3.5.

Little help?

Agreed! Pointing to WebMD is like pointing to wikipedia to prove a point. Not good enough.

medicine is still too much of an art for us to ignore diet and traditional remedies in a complex dynamic system without a lot more field research without the bliding professional lenses of overreaching modernism. That's modernism as opposed to good, empirical science, which involves field studies and longitudinal research. There are multiple confounding factors.

For example: they still eed more research on BPA and
other miniscule particles, at concentrations previously thought to be irrelevant! http://www.loe.org/shows/shows.html?programID=12-P13-00011

The entitlement sense of some people is unbelievable. Often to be found in the more selfish ends of the arts worlds. Often like children in their solipsism. Would you agree for them to bring a six-year-old? Then this one can be a good guest, as it's as if you're putting on a dinner party. Allergies in a bidder, fair enough (though imo some people think they're allergic to everything, and that has to be manifestly psychosomatic, except in very special cases). But, this is something you offered for free for charity, right?

One, you can cook sauces with onions, and likely this precious thesp won't realise, since that adds sweetness and umami, not raw onion flavour.

chemvictim wrote:Maybe 7 courses of cheesecake for her?

Two, I bet that one hardly eats anyway and looks like a rake. the fussy ones always do. So, in a seven-course meal, she can just lump it for two or three courses, or have a salad.

Three, especially since if I'm a guest at something I don't go specifying my preferences "no peanut butter, no celery," I just hope, and will make do. Furthermore Celery is like onions (and carrots): great in sauce bases anyway! So, how does she get to do this? Not in any social universe but a me-oriented one!

Four, you offered this out of the goodness of your heart. This must not be something that pus you out... life's too short, and it's their problem not yours, so make the solution which you find to be right. I have some options beyond the "they'll miss out on some flavours", and i bet others do too.
