Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

So how many of you have actually (and knowingly) had a Pinot Blanc, or a Pinot Meunier (as a majority component)?

I tried quite a few Pinot Blancs at a large tasting event. They were cheap French imports and I have no idea if they were representative of the varietal. The only note I took said "like GV (I'm assuming I meant Gruner Veltliner) but heavier and more floral, buy some later." Unfortunately, this was well into the 3rd hour of the event and, given the state of my handwriting, might not be a reliable description.

Never had a Pinot Meunier, though. Can't even find it in my pocket wine guide.

I'm not a fan of pinot gris, and I've never had a pinot meunier that I'm aware of. I've had lesser pinot blancs, as chukon99 also has, but I have a Domaine Ostertag pinot blanc that will tell me what a top-flight producer can do with it. But I've loved many pinot noirs, so that wins my vote in a landslide.

How on earth did I get 7 QPs?

Pinot Blanc is huge in Oregon, so most of their whites are PB. I've definitely had a lot of them. Pinot Meunier is interesting. Champagne is made quite often by then and I've had a bunch of those (and some US sparkling). But, I can't really say there is any producer making a still wine with Pinot Meunier. So, does Champagne count for it?

I've had Pinot Blanc a few times, not nearly as much as Pinot Gris, though. I don't recall them being particularly standout either in the positive or negative.

I've also had a 100% Pinot Meunier Champagne. Delicious.

Me too and me too.

And someone is making a still PM, although I can't recall who at this moment.

You can find several (still) Meuniers in the Loire. While I've only had a half-dozen or so, it always reminds me of Gamay.

Last time I remember seeing the list there were like 13 Pinot Meunier still wine producers in the states. Off the top of my head I've had them from Bouchaine (Carneros), August Briggs (Calistoga), Novy (Santa Rosa), Domaine Carneros, and Mumm (although I don't know if they still make it).
