NO info on the website, and I'm not familiar with this producer, and Cesar had to create the CT. Any chance he'll check in and enlighten us a bit more?

I'd like to feel like a RAT jumping ship...

I am extremely hard-pressed to pass up ANY dessert wine offerings here, but has anyone tried these? The Summerland wines offered here previously never seem to sell that well and aren't all that well received.

Hey, I loved Summerland on the WB, but I've always been a big Lori Loughlin fan. Oh wait, this is a different Summerland? Sorry...

Haven't had theirs, but I'm hoping it's similar to Kent's LH Viognier.

But if it's wine, then it's always recommended!

A dessert wine woot, you say? And I enjoy regular harvest Viogner generally. Six bottles is a BIG commitment for an unknown, but I'm giving it a shot.

I would hope so too, but I just looked up the stats from Kent's and they really couldn't be any different.

Barrels: 12 months in 50% new and 50% one year old French oak
Residual Sugar – 35%
pH – 3.76
Total Acidity – 6.6 grams/liter
Alcohol – 9.52%

v.

Alcohol: 15.5%
pH: 3.62
TA: 0.92 g/100ml
RS: 8%

Anyone in Atlanta or Chicago (technically I'm in Champaign) want to split with me?

Well, it will be interesting to try the two side by side then!

As much as I HATE to pass this up, since this is exactly what I have been asking woot for, there is just no information out there on these, I'm on a budget, and I'm out of space.

It is really a bummer that this winery has yet to participate in any offering I have seen for them on WW. A little participation in this, or any previous offering could have easily pushed me over the edge.

In California, there is no "ice wine" - so there's LH Viognier!

If fruit, cheese, and this stuff = dessert for nobility.

I second that. I could not pass it up. I know nothing other than it is a dessert wine.

Would an offer to split push you over the edge?

FWIW, I bought Summerland Trio Rhone Red Blend that was offered in January, partly due to the participation of Etienne from the winery. Totally different animal but I'd be willing to split an order of these just to make my KRs last longer.

EDIT: In looking back at the Trio discussion, I see that it was also the thread where I was shamed into getting my collection onto CT by spdrcr05. Thanks, spdrcr05!

Of course, once I had my collection online the first thing I wanted to do was add to it so that started a buying binge that lasted over 2 months and left me with an overflowing wine cellar and unimpressive bank account. Damn you, spdrcr05! Haha.

Works for me, I almost posted earlier about a split, but hadn't seen you milling about yet today and knew you trying to stem your purchases. Way to step up!

Is it really possible to for Kent's to have 35% residual sugar in a LH viognier? I can't find any others with more than 20%. Does viognier grape juice even start out with that much sugar?

His stats at harvest was 47% RS so it wouldn't surprise me. That number blew me away too, but I don't remember it being corrected in that thread, I would have to go back and look.

Edit: Just looked back to the Original Offering and don't see any information discounting the 35%.

I too, despite lack of the winery chiming in, or rats jumping ship, have done my part.

Willing to do a SoCal split however.
