Don't judge too harshly by one order. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me and I've made 37 wine.woot orders.

Damn, I really need an intervention.. 37 orders in 4 months. Either I need a new job so I have more money and/or a liver replacement. Any chance Woot will move into the body part business? ;)

Hello. We have confirmation the wines will be in the Fedex system landing in the midwest this evening with deliveries starting tomorrow. Most packages will be delivered Thursday or Friday of this week.

The boxes have been in movement During this process but,in this case, the carrier scan will only occur once it hits the strategically located hub. During certain times of the year (summer is best example) trucking moves are used to 1/ reduce temperature exposure and 2/ optimize costs .

Normally, these processes occur behind the scenes, but this particular move (which involved White Oak, Red Zeppelin and Long Meadow) had some delays on the trucking leg.

At all times the wine is in a protected state and should be delivered in good working order.

i'll continue to monitor these boards to answer any other questions.

our apologies for the frustration over the lack of scan/communication on this.

(will be placing this note on the other impacted wine threads).

Honestly, I'm betting they put it on the same truck.

What weird is that the two woots I wooted after the Black Zeppelin don't even have FedEx numbers yet, and they've been queued up longer than normal.

Good thinking, they probably are on the same truck. This is what support.wine.woot just sent me about the White Oak order, "We've been told by the winery that they had shipped the package by trailer to MO. Today or tomorrow your order will be shipped from the Fedex facility there and headed your way"

In reply to my query about the Black Zeppelin, I received the standard answer that it's still processing, it's not a normal 5 day turn around like regular woot, blah, blah, blah.

I too have made a few wine.woots since these two, 5 in fact (3 wine, 1 cheese and 1 'other'.) None of them have any tracking info. So I'm guessing there was a rift in the logistics empire which they are repairing before proceeding.

My wondering mind is curious to know whether RueLaLa orders have been affected by this rift as well or only WW...

WD,
Thanks for the update. You mention the Red Zeppelin, how about the Black Zeppelin from the 3/14/2012 offering? Received shipping notice for that one on 3/19.

I JUST got an update. It's saying the wine should be here Friday. Unfortunately, I can't be home all day. Hopefully, they will get here while I'm home. At least after almost 3 weeks we are finally getting some information.

now if they can just tell us WHEN during the day the wine will arrive (what time window), then we can make arrangements. My fedex link is still showing nothing.

I know what you mean. Mine just updated and is coming in the day I have a meeting and can't just work from home all day. I am still quite happy though. For the price this should be very good wine and I have just emptied my stock of wine. For my first wine.woot purchase, I still think I am going to be happy overall.

Phew, They are in Kansas City with an ETA of 4/2 in NY. Just checked and was able to hold at the Fed Ex facility until I get back.

Received delivery notice for Monday, 4/2/12, in Connecticut.

Will sample two to enjoy (and make sure they didn't cook in the midwest), and let the rest sleep for a year or so.

I'm sure they will be worth the wait. Never been disapointed yet.

It's not nice of me to laugh so hard at someone's unfortunate circumstances. Mine was delivered in SC today. I love my FedEx guy.

I used to get delivery exceptions all the time at our old place when I was home all day with nary a knock, too. I suspect that some drivers didn't feel like hoofing it down the long driveway to find our place. And yes, it was aggravating as hell.

That's EXACTLY what happened. They want you to go pick it up because the package is heavy. LAZY-ARSED MO FOs... I'm so pissed, neither I nor my business will use Fed Ex again. and i will let them know.

I received my wine yesterday (finally!) and was excited to try it. I had a few friends over so we tried one of each. Both were very well received by my guests. I thought the wine had some nice dried cherry flavors but the wine is definitely very dry and tannic, and the tannin sticks with you. I wonder if some more bottle age will soften these tannins? I am surprised how tannic it is being a 2006.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else tried it?

Honest Review:

The Merlot kinda sucks. It has a sour taste to it that I find in many lower end wines.

The only upside so far is that it is dry and tannic... which i like.

I tried really hard to like it, but the sourness kills it for me. Is the wine getting too old? is that why they are dumping it?

I have yet to try the cab.

This was my FIRST WINE WOOT. I hope it's not my last. We'll find out when I try the cab.

The wife can never know of this review or she will never let me get a "site unseen" wine ever again... =/

I tried one of each over the past few days and I think I am going to like both. The cab was good; classic Napa valley cab and that's pretty much my favorite, so no complaints there. I had one bottle of merlot with a slightly spongy cork and so I opened that one. It had that faint taste of mustiness so there seems to have been some air infiltration, but it really was faint and I could get a sense of the wine and here's hoping the rest of the bottles with firm corks will all be excellent!

I got mine 4 days ago and 4 bottles are gone. The Cab is by far much nicer than the Merlot. I feel the Merlot is to acidic. Still ok to drink but I maybe using the Merlot to cook with. The Cab is perfect. I would not age either both are ready to drink now just not to happy with the Merlot.

Well, mine never showed up. FedEx tracking says they were damaged and sent back to Sonoma, CA.
They were delivered in Sonoma on April 4. I wonder what happens now. They made it all the way to Halethorpe, MD but didn't get on the truck for delivery.
