I'm not sure if moldy butter sounds very good...It definitely won't impress my In-laws.

On the other hand, it would be pretty darn funny.

skywarrior3 wrote:Would this work with goat's cream? I just bought two dairy goats today.

As cashew said, goat's milk does not separate easily. I call it "naturally homogenized" . Varies a bit with different breeds. Nubian goat milk is particularly hard to separate.

But it makes GREAT ice cream!

We've had goats for a long time - love 'em - part of the family - our Nubians have wonderful personalities. They are also super at keeping the undergrowth trimmed. Which is very important in our mountain home to protect against wildfire. Organic, full re-cycle brush trimmers

Greg

I dont know...you get some pretty neat spices...herbs de province, cinnamon-sugar, and salt...plus a remekin and butter spreader...
SO great to do with kids or friends and you will never have such great tasting butter in your refrig...

I do this in my classroom when we are studying chemical change and physical change. Small mason jar and a sterilized marble, add cream. Give several kids a time to shake. Some get salt, some don't. let them try it with crackers.

For fun sometimes, I get some raw milk from my nieces dairy farm and let them see what it looks like.

So basically, it's fourteen bucks (plus shipping) for a jar and some salt.

I think I can beat that deal.

Well, not really! Your forgetting some herbs and spices, a ramekin, butter spreader, and booklet
But the bottom line, is that if you are looking for a project or gift, it is something you would not do on your own, and having this kit will enable you to make the best butter ever...

This is me, too.

Some more of that fancy balsamic would be so nice - I missed it! or a cheese-making kit (preferably one with enough supplies to make multiple cheeses, not just one).

In the meantime... Sorry RBD, I'll be using my own (free) jar.
