“In the entire world there are only a few sounds that bring joy to all but the most jaded. One is the murmur of a kitten purring. Another is the thwack of a well-pitched baseball hitting a perfectly swung bat. And the third is the pop of a cork being pulled from a bottle of wine.” —George Taber

SO if I replace my water with this wine, I should be a cliff climbing machine! I'll be sure to try it next time I'm dangling hundreds of feet off the earth

Must...resist...large yellow...button.

Seriously good vineyard and juice from a good year. Not as fool proof as 2005, but almost.

I am far to kind to my liver because my cellar is too full. Hmm, guess I need a new cellar.

That's interesting...I've always been under the impression that, in general, '06 was not a good year.

Cab Cab Cab, enough cabs already. I want semi-sweet whites or some red varieties. How about Malbec, Sangiovese, Barbera, something we don't see all the time here.

Per WE:

Price : $38 -- Rating: 87

Firm, a bit astringent and dry, with ripe flavors of blackberries, currants, black cherries and cedar. A solid Cabernet with some raw edges that might age out in a few years.

2007 Rating: 92 -- 2008 Rating: 92

Newest Addition: 2008 Avignonesi Rosso di Toscana & 2009 Paraduxx (Duckhorn Vineyards) Z Blend

Got this back in December. Very pleasant, easy drinking Cab. Very fruity, not tannic or bold.

A better "food Cab" than most.

Would go well with barbeque as the weather warms.

Is it broke or just fractured?

Edit - my bad - I read it as 05 = 92; 06 = 87; 07 = 92...sorry

Wow, that's a huge jump from 92 down to 87 back up to 92... hmmmm. =(

Given the above information (thank you for sharing by the way) and the previous WE 411 - I'd say that the '06 is not a "Killer Cab" but perhaps just a solid red wine....does that sound fair?

perfect critique - exactly my experience, though i would have rated it an 85. i opened one in October and have put the rest of the case away for at least 2 years.

Unfortunately, Maryland not on the list for this one.

Precisely.

Probably worth the asking price but not a whole lot more in my opinion.

Thinking about it.... chewing it over.... maybe I should start flipping a coin...

I'm really hoping the Vampire wine shows up...

Indeed.

I know the policy of woot-offs is not to lower the previous offer price, merely repeat the offering to help those who missed it or who tried it and want to stock up, but...if WD did 4 bottles of this wine for $60 - then you'd see it bouncing real fast. If they did 6 for $60 even the legendary, lightning fast "First sucker: mill" might not get any?

I want to know why Maryland is on the "can be shipped to" list for some offers from California but not others. This doesn't seem to make much sense.

Because as you'll see in thread after thread, each vineyard has to have a license to ship to every state. Wine.Woot is doing the selling on behalf of the vineyards, but it's the vineyard that has to have the permit to do so in each state. That's why it changes from offer to offer.

Wish I had the cellar space to hold a $20 wine for two+ years. But, is it built to hold to be a 8 - 10 yr Cab? Any more numbers on this one?

Just asking.

"We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as of a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness of God, made every day before our eyes. Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, and which incorporates itself with the grapes, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy." I totally agree, my hold stock has to be the best of the best as it's only about 150 bottles of ageworthy juice and it's all in the $50 - $100 range. It sure would be a nice luxury to have the space to properly hold this kind of offer.

Yeah, It would just be terrible to have to drink a bottle or two of Corison . . .

My Name is Star, and I'm a wine hoarder .....

For a list of wineries with Maryland shipping permits, see the Maryland ATF website list.

Good point. That is always an option. Actually Corison cannot ship to my home state of NH (oh, the humanity) so my only Corison comes from a trip to St. Helena to see Cathy in person, or the occasional WootLeg. But I could kill off a bottle of vintage Tytanium just as well.

Not to be "that guy", as we all love our WD...but is it just me or does this Wine WootOff! seem to have a lot of unusually slow moving offers? It's weird as it's not like there are a bunch of bad offers, they just seem to be moving really slow compared to the past. Is everybody else off doing cooler things than buying wine from WD?

I'm down to 2 06 Tytaniums, has anyone tasted one recently? I was blown away by the wonderful progression btwn 2009, 2010 & 2011. A great learning experience!

ooh ooh ooh... Either somebody likes Killer Cab a LOT, or the wine woot gods are looking favorably upon us. The big gold button is dancing!

Well, if other wooters are like me, I bought a lot in the last regular wine woot off, then in the PS woot off just last week. And some regular purchases in between. Has to be just the right wine this round- I'm trying to avoid bankruptcy and divorce!

I hear that....having a bunch of nice wine & no SO to share it with, or roof to store it under is not winning. =)
