“In the entire world there are only a few sounds that bring joy to all but the most jaded. One is the murmur of a kitten purring. Another is the thwack of a well-pitched baseball hitting a perfectly swung bat. And the third is the pop of a cork being pulled from a bottle of wine.” —George Taber

Is this a dessert wine?

I sure hope there is winery participation on this one. It sounds interesting, but with little information to go by, I need something to push me over the edge on this purchase.

Decided to make a leap of faith - have been rewarded for it in the past. Love petite syrah and sorry I just missed out on the last one. Faith in WD...

had a glass of this last night and another few sips this morning to see how it developed (ahh the mocha and coffee notes really came out!) I began writing my tasting notes which after reading the woot write-up are incredibly similar. I'm not a PS drinker very often, but enjoyed this last night, very well made and had many interesting aromas, layers of fruit and the color was oh-so-pretty too. You'll be very happy about this purchase no doubt. Here's the description & spot on!

"Deep red and purple hues are at the core, while violet shimmers at its edges. After a deft swirl of the glass, your nose picks up aromas of blueberry, coffee and mocha spice. Hints of toasty French oak frame this highly aromatic red wine. Upon taking your first sip, flavors of dark chocolate, dried red and blue fruits, and a mineral backbone wash across your mouth. The mid-palette is rich and full, and the finish is long and lingering."

How often does one get to drink a wine made from the 63rd Harvest of the same winemaker? Very honored!

This wine ROCKS! It is deep, dark, rich in color and flavor with hints of blueberry, spice and mocha powder. Terrific with hearty pastas and grilled meats. Or enjoy a glass, or two by itself with some dark chocolate. It's yummy!

Take the chance! It is well worth it. The quality and presentation of this wine are just what one would want from a PS.

This one is not a dessert wine, but we do have our Bella Dolce which is our same estate grown, old vine petite sirah. Definitely something to have with a nice chocolate. Make it Valentine's Day anyday!

My thought exactly. Glad to know there's another one out there, in this coffee-addled world.

I started out on Burgundy but soon hit the harder stuff. Bob Dylan, Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues

How on earth did I get 7 QPs?

Awww..come to the "dark side" with coffee drinkers. (smile)

The coffee notes are very subtle and those subtleties are always open to individual interpretation and palate.

So these are the same grapes as the dessert offering I have on the way from last week?

Yes, they are all grown in our vineyards and picked specifically for the wines that they are used in.

As a side note, it is a very bad thing to have surgery the day before a wine woot off. I am stuck in bed with a laptop, wallet and my medicine. Woot, you knew this was happening to me didn't you?

In for one. The rack at home needs some more PS to balance out the plethora of Chardonay.

I don't want to encourage you to purchase somethihg that you might not enjoy. HOWEVER, I do stand behind the opinion that this wine is great and has the proper balance of flavors. The deep rich fruit is the primary backbone to this wine.

And just to clarify, it’s the same grapes, but a different style of wine altogether. The Bella Dolce you ordered is a Port (dessert wine/high residual sugar/etc), and this offer today is our Petite Sirah wine.
