Yes, dinner is at my place on Saturday.
No $$ are needed. I'll be doing BBQ, assorted cheese and crackers and nibbles (veggies, dips, nuts, etc.), desserts.

Yeah, that's a biggie. If the last time you looked was many months ago, that would be the main reason. Airport fees, taxes, and all that jazz are included in the advertised prices now. So the advertised prices you would have seen previously would have been skewed.

That's why I like SWA. The rate drops, you just rebook at the lower rate and get the difference refunded back to your account to use on a future flight. Speaking of which, I should check the half dozen flights I have booked to see if any of them have changed for the better (though I doubt it). LOL

Haha, all the talk made me go ahead and buy tickets since Southwest is having a sale anyway, aiming for getting in late Thursday night and leaving Sunday. Will have to check if I can actually get Friday off work though, and see what hotel deals are before I'm sure :P

Well if you want to cheaply rent the pull-out queen bed from the couch in the livingroom of the 2-BR resort suite that myself/Cat & klezman/molarchae are splitting for Fri & Sat night, just let us know. I'm sure we'd all be cool with that. You'd then just need to find yourself a cheap hotel for Thurs night.

We are going to be driving through Yosemite... if Tioga Pass is open. (If not, we'll come up with a plan B.) We plan on being in Vegas friday night and staying until monday morning.

As of right now, since employment is non-existent, I will be driving Friday and leaving Monday. I booked a room at LQ.

Calloway south of the strip isn't pretty, but is inexpensive by Vegas standards. My guys play there when there are specials online.
Angel Park by us is pretty reasonable and more pleasant. Painted Desert is up by us, pretty, small, not expensive.

Me too. I’ve been watching the Westin’s price at last minute travel (thanks Cat!). It’s an average of $80 per night with a total of $275 for fri-sun. The only reason I haven’t jumped on it is that I randomly get offers from the Monte Carlo and New York, New York for cheaper. The only problem with their deals is they are only good for the next few weeks. So here I am waiting on a deal that might not happen. Hopefully, I’ll still be able to get a good deal at the Westin if that time comes.

fwiw, i really do like the westin in vegas...
i like the fact that the casino does not get in the way of me going to the elevator to my hotel... plus, the happy hour for SPG members = free booze.

Stayed there the first Vegas trip. mewalk shared for the night, too, before we transferred to Monte Carlo. Got it cheap through Priceline but couldn't get more nights at the same rate. It was quite nice.

I have to wait until payday to make a decision anyway. So if there's no better deal by next friday... then free booze for me

if i remember correctly, from the last time i was there (probably last year's bottling) they had an assortment of beer, 2 reds and a white... i slept through the bowling session one day, and i believe this was part of the reason why...
