Easy, easy, easy buy.

PS + Vertical + Great Value = money out of my wallet.

Nice one, WD.

The really most awesome aspect of the 2007 is that the harvest date was in the fall of 2006.

I think I might take a LaChance on this.

And the 2008 vintage was harvested in the fall of 2009.

Cheryl, are you guys members of PS I Love You? If not, why not? You really should be -- it's friendly, relatively inexpensive, and highly educational! It's like a commune without the communism.

And why haven't we ever seen you guys at Dark & Delicious...

... speaking of which, WineDavid, WineFarm, and WineDrew, I'd love to see you guys there again this year (not least of which because Themostrighteous will finally be in attendance). Please PM me or email me at the usual email address.

Our afterparty will feather the one and only Stillman Brown (and Jeff Stai of Twisted Oak has promised to make it this year too!), and Larry Schaffer will be there (and I wonder if TMR will convince him to join us afterwards).

They actually have trade passes this year, but I'll need to request them from Jo Diaz sooner rather than later...

So the 2008 vintage was harvested in the fall of 2009, a little over a week after the 2009 vintage was harvested! Hmmm

Don't be confused, they're just typos on the wine description. The vintage is always the year of harvest

As someone who used to live near San Jose, I didn't realize there were wineries in the area near Gilroy. What varietals grow best in this region?

Cheryl, how would you describe the tannins on these? I'm a fan of ample tannins, big and in-your-face, but ones that will lay down and play nicely with a hunk of lamb.

What do you attribute yours mostly (with the partial exception of the '07) coming out more on the red fruit side than on the blue/black fruit side? Winemaking or terroir? What are the relevant variables?

The 2007 matches the winery's spec sheet.

The others aren't on the site. I sent an email to the team so I'm sure they'll confirm everything in the morning.

I grew up in Morgan Hill and Gilroy. There are quite a few wineries in that area. My high school was actually across the street from a winery.

My cousin got married at this winery. It is a very beautiful winery and if I remember correctly, the wines were good. But it's been a while and I'm not exactly sure what they were pouring.

These go between $28.00 and $35.00 @, and would cost $109.25 total shipped from the winery, so this represents a good deal at 50% off.

That 2007 spec sheet shows a release date of April 2008 and a bottling date of July 2008; which I guess makes sense...if you buy by the barrel?

But enough with the nit-picking. These wines sound very tasty and at a very reasonable price. I wonder if I can convince trifecta to go in with me on this one

it would be fun to compare these to the meeker offer i took advantage of during the woot-off (PS 2006 and 2007).

what is the drinking window on these?

This is a three pack, At most with a girlfriend I can drink two bottles an evening, thus to achieve equilibrium I cannot buy every wine.woot offered, unless I can find a sustainable menage-de-trois. My own experience is that these are findable, but not sustainable. Alternatively, I can date two girls per evening, the five to nine o'clock shift, and the nine to whenever o'clock shift, but frankly, it never makes a good impression to show up with alcohol on your breath. So I cannot buy every wine.woot.com offered. Should I buy this to enjoy with Nina.
Nina is a 56 year old equestrian, born to a traditional Russian family, who is wealthy, intelligent, independent, and aggressive. She tracked me down from my match.com profile, initiated an Email dialogue that revealed that we are essentially soulmates. We are having dinner on Sunday. She owns a poodle and two show horses. (P.S. Karen has had back problems and has been unavailable, Shirley is set with the Mornington Chardonnay, Jeremy gets the Twisted Oak Freak Syrahwhen she recovers from her cold, and CAT gets the Tallulah Shake Ridge GSM). I have as much use for a wine that needs to be cellared as a girlfriend requiring cellaring.

I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to mix and match through one evening. Why go through two bottles of Twisted Oak with Jeremy, when you can have a bottle of TO *and* a bottle of Clos LaChance Petite Sirah. Same with CAT. How about a bottle of Tallulah Shake Ridge GSM, followed by some Sirah?

ditto the question. are these go ahead and drink/short hold (e.g. meeker) or are they meant to be held long term (e.g. kr esoterica)?

I'm a big fan of Clos LaChance, this stuff is hard to find on the east coast in no-ship states, the Syrah is great and their 2007 cab is wonderful. Come on May, save New Jersey.

What's the "vertical 3-pack" all about? I understand 3 pack :P, but vertical?

//derail: I tried to hold on to my kr esoterica, but i'm down to one bottle . How long should I be saving those? It was the first PS I ever had, and I absolutely loved it.

will these Petite Sirah's hold up for 20 years in the cellar, or are they in the "drink over the next 7 years" category?

EDIT: I see 500 people have already asked this question, consider mine withdrawn.

Vertical means that it is consecutive vintage years, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Why is this an easy buy? Have you tried them? How do they compare to Black Zeppelin or KR Esoterica? I have not bought alot of PS, except the aforementioned, so any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Clos LaChance has very close ties (I think they might be the same owners) with La Fondue in Saratoga, CA. They of course like it when you bring Clos LaChance to enjoy with your fondue, but will gladly uncork your bottle of Iron Horse or Corison if you choose to bring them.

I might go in for one...if I can find room in the rack or somewhere temperate to stash the box.

Weekends allow for 3 shifts, with a lunch on Sat and a brunch on Sunday option. May be able to sneak in a nap as well, if you time it right.

15.5% alch on that last bottle, save that for last

whats the drinking window? hehe...

Interesting! I'm glad to hear La Fondue is still around. I used to go there on special occasions 14 years or so ago now. Of course, that was back before I had a wine collection.

Wine collection? Wait, this site sells wine? All along I thought I have been buying large fancy bottles of beer, no wonder they all taste funny.
