Just some chronic stuffiness that's driving me crazy is all I have left of the cybercrud...

Have been slowly adding wine to the racks, and, so far, like the Cor.kz app. Will have to use it a little longer before giving a complete review.

Have I ever mentioned the people I work with are slobs? I'm probably gonna get in trouble for this one. Taped to the microwave:

While fully acknowledging this as an EPIC waste of time, the microwave is now sparkly clean. If you cook something in there and it results in residue all over the inside; Please, take five seconds of your life, to not be a slob, and wipe the inside out with a damp paper towel. If you cannot overcome your inner slob (likely) follow these simple steps to ensure microwave cleanliness:
1. Use a lid over your bowl if you’re warming something up. No lid you say? Why an inverted* (upside down if you’re confused) plate makes an EXCELLENT lid. Just place it over the bowl. Then, you can simply remove the lid (caution, it may be hot), rinse it (asking a lot I know), then remove the bowl. If something leaked out the sides, there are paper towels in the kitchen. They’re next to the coffee pot in case you’ve never used one. Use one of these [tip: run the towel under water and wring it out prior to using it] to wipe up your mess. OR take the whole carousel out and rinse it under flowing water (the sink).
2. If you’re warming something up on a plate. Another plate (again inverted) makes a wonderful lid (plus by concentrating the heat you will most likely have hotter food faster. Please, follow the cleanup procedure outlined in step one for the inverted plate.
3. If you’re warming something up on a plate and don’t want to use another plate as a lid, use a paper towel. Drape it over your food so anything that explodes will explode into the paper towel.
If you cannot follow one of these simple steps as outlined above, then you have failed at life. Do not pass go, do not collect $200 and DO NOT use this microwave.
Thanks, and have a wonderful rest of your day. Oh, and enjoy your lunch.
*the reason you want to invert the plate is so the concave portion does not come in contact with your food.

I thought about maybe explaining concave, but at that point I had lost my zeal for jackassery. The funniest part is when my boss came over to thank me for the write up for employee of the year (this is the one where I nominated the font for an award) and he said I had a way with words. Sadly, come grant time, I'm probably going to get stuck writing the grants. I wonder if he'll enjoy my way with words after the microwave instructions.

He did say he's sure it'll come up a time or two. He got quite the kick out of it.

Also, two things.

I ate at Chili's this weekend. Yep, you read that right. I had a GC from my least favorite extended family, so figured, eh, its free. I haven't been to one in 7 years. If another 7 goes by, so be it. The fruit cake ratio was massively lopsided. The food was meh and the server was, well, to be kind, not so bright.

FINALLY! Chick Fil A is coming to Omaha. Better, it's less than five minutes from my house. This is the only Fast Food Joint I like, and I love it. Though, it may be romanticized in my brain since I haven't been there since a spectacular vacation in Atlanta 9 years ago.

I don't see why not ... it's not like the slobs are going to read it. Unless it has pictures, that is.

Depends too, if they have someone waiting to use the microwave right after them. Because heaven forbid they have to wait to heat up their food!

So you need to insert another step, protocol-wise, so that when someone doesn't want to wait for cleanup, that they become beholden (another word you might like!) to the office to clean up the microwave once the heating of their sustenance (aka "vittles" or "eats") is completed.

I'm going to get flamed for this, because it's intolerant.

You know what I hate? Tolerance. I think the idea of "tolerance" is stupid, at least in its current, bastardized state. I really do, and I'm really tired of people who find out that a company does something that is considered "intolerant" suddenly declaring that the company is evil. What makes a company so intolerant? Sticking to the principals of their founder? Having, as a client, a group that is anti-something? Or maybe it's just closing the store down on a certain day because of a specific holiday or Holy day. What's wrong with intolerance? Why should we all have to agree with everyone else about everything? The only time intolerance is WRONG is when an action is taken against someone - like genocide. "Tolerance" doesn't mean I have to agree with you. It just means "agree to disagree" and then just leave it alone.

Maybe companies shouldn't shut down on Good Friday, ever, because *gasp* that's a Christian holiday and it's intolerant of every other religious group. Maybe they shouldn't shut down on Christmas either, for the same reason. Oh, but no one complains about that because it's a day off of work and it's to their benefit to stay quiet about it. To truly be tolerant, one would have to either take away every holiday because somehow, someone is going to be offended by it, or to make sure EVERY holiday for every person who could potentially interact with the business is observed. The former won't happen because people like their days off. The latter won't happen because no business would EVER happen.

According to people who lobby for "tolerance" - companies with a Christian foundation that shut down on Sundays shouldn't do that, because that's insensitive and intolerant to the atheists and Muslims and Jews and everyone else who wants to go to that business on Sunday. Companies with a Jewish foundation that shut down on Saturdays (Sabbath) shouldn't do that, because that's insensitive and intolerant to the atheists and Muslims and Christians who what to go to that company on Saturday.

From all I can tell, for Chick-Fil-A in particular, the anger stems from the fact that they dared to cater food to an anti-merry organization. How does that make Chick-Fil-A itself intolerant? I could understand irateness stemming from an incident where, say, a merry rights group requested catering from CFA and they refused. Sure, that's probably bad business practice and maybe they shouldn't do that. But that's not what happened. And this is the kind of thing that I see over and over again. An organization (A) enters a business relationship with another organization (B) that supports/protests a particular idea, and suddenly organization A is the evil entity and worthy of mockery, disdain, slander, and boycotting. Not because Organization A directly states a stance on something, but because they happened to collect money for goods or services rendered to someone else with a stance. And I find that to be wrong.

By staging protests against Organization A, doesn't that mean the protesters are now intolerant of Organization A, the very people the protesters are claiming is intolerant? Since I don't see Organization A going out with pitchforks and torches against the protesters, while the protesters are actively trying to put the company out of business, it makes me wonder who is really the greater evil here.

edit: I will say, there is a grocery store in town that closes on Sunday. DRIVES ME NUTS, as that's usually the only day I can get there and I like the place. I get it though, they're Christian folk and would rather their employees spend the day with the family. I actually kind of respect that they'll throw away 4 days of profit, when its a busy shopping day I'm sure, to stick to what they feel is right. It's a chain also, all over Iowa and Nebraska. I'm basically Agnostic, but its your business, run it how you see fit.

As far as Chick-Fil-A goes, they're in business. You stay in business by making money. If catering to an anti-merry organization makes you money, so be it. If your board of directors is anti-merry, so be it. Free country and all

Course, when your father can't keep his shoes tied, maybe it's best if they stick with velcro.

So, this may sound stupid, but it actually is true (in my experience with round laces anyway)... if you tie your laces by x-ing two loops they are more likely to stay tied, whereas the single loop with the wrap around doesn't stay as well.

I did some googling, since I've never heard anything about the intolerant chicken before. Some folks say that all the restaurant did was provide sandwiches to a Christian group, some others say they donated cash to an explicitly anti-merry group. Since I don't accept that Christian = anti-merry, I don't think the two situations are the same. I'm guessing it was the anti-merry thing, more than the Christian thing, which pissed people off. If I refuse to patronize the restaurant, does that mean I'm intolerant? (there is no such restaurant near me, so my intolerance will continue in any case)
