Friends, Family, Fans and Stalkers; Trolls, Drunks and Geeks, I welcome myself back! I wanted to name this wine 'Colossus of Rhones' but the Feds unkindly pointed out that the French don't look too kindly on such abuse. You can't see the Colossus statue astride the harbor entrance on the label at the angle photographed by Woot, ahem - just Morro Rock with a Zeppelin over it. You can see the full label and stats/description at ZeppelinWinery.com.

He knows Stillman is a great winemaker. And is probably on his autobuy list.

I personally have to think this over after not really liking his 09' Black zep. but loving the four other wines of his that I have tried.

In time for Christmas? Seriously? I'm still waiting on my port from Gift Week to SHIP! At the rate it is taking it to ship, and including the transit time to TX, it'll be after the 1st! GRRRRRR Gift Week is a time to buy gifts and not have to worry about shipping.

One the other hand, I'm very curious about this one IF it is a 100% before Christmas.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

I am flabbergasted, a winery that won't ship to NM. Pretty odd, we are fairly lax on our interstate wine laws

Hmmm. This is richer than the '05 Black, but not as tannic. Definitely bigger and less Petite Sirah earth than the 09 BZ.

Damn at 17% if you don't like it you can use it to fire up the BBQ.

A dual purpose wine! I'm in!

I was just told today that the NM governor took money away from the ABC to enforce the license fee that the Legislature passed . . . but I'd already told Woot to leave NM and NH off the list. Damn!

Arranged to ship to WineWoot's HQ tomorrow so it can go out ASAP. Yeah, we thought of that!

Cesare, that is not the right link; this is separate from Red Zeppelin Winery. The right website is ZeppelinWinery.com, thanks!

Ha! It was 17.5 before I blended it 'down' with the Mystery Syrah. Wish I could put 34 proof on the label but for once I made enough of it that I had to go the legal route.

Well, at least it isn't in magnums only. (If it had been, there would have been 666 of them. Seriously, I made 111 cases. Weird eh?)

Gotta admit this sounds like some killer juice, being so young, how long does it need to cellar, or is it drinking fine now?

It's not high in tannin. If I only had two bottles, I'd open one for Elvis' bday (Jan 8) and the second in a year or two. The wine of mine it most resembles, the 2005 La Mort Du Roi, has barely changed since 08, so it would probably keep several years especially if you have 55F storage. Or you could drink them early and wait for the next vintage. There will be a 2011 from the same vineyard but I might not have enough for woot - got 2 tons/acre last year but only one this year.

There's a picture of the primary vineyard of this wine at my blog stillmanbrown.com - it's the second post after the Colossus blather. Westside Paso, Peachy Canyon Rd, 12 year old clone 877, I could go on. But it's a nice pic from this year's harvest, combined with some bragging about my crop estimation. Nobody's perfect.

In for three. Had a chance to taste this Friday at Stillman's new tasting room at Morro Bay. You need to buy this, don't let the 17% throw you, this is an awesome wine! Thanks again Stillman for a great start to an incredible central coast wine crawl weekend.

They'll make a change as soon as they get confirmation in the morning. Until then, the sale will stay as originally posted.

Mr. Brown, can you share some cooperage stats?

Mr. Idle, where can I buy some of your music?

Mr. Zeppelin, have you been to California with an aching in your heart?
(OK, that last question was rhetorical)

Yep, 3 barrels old, 1 barrel new French, 1 barrel new Hungarian!

Mr. Idle, where can I buy some of your music?

That's not my music on ZeppelinWinery.com, that's a Dread Zeppelin original called "Weight Loss Solution". I can barely manage one set of Ramones before my voice blows out, sometimes half a song.

I think Rolaids is off the market?!?

Thanks for making my decision easy! This offering looked intriguing. Your decision to save $100 for the NH permit means I have $110 more to spend on wines that I already know I enjoy...

12 months or so? Overall this wine sounds very appealing to me except that I don't like big oak and the description had me worried but the ratio of old/new French barrels looks pretty good, with the wildcard being the Hungarian barrel as I don't know how that compares to French.

Ahh, ok... who does that Spambake tune on one of your other blogs? Cuz I also liked that alot.

Thanks for your time and participation!

edit: still have my well-worn Ramones "Leave Home" on vinyl, I should probably service my turntable.... or buy a replacement cd.... or go to the iTunes store, wow I think I just entered the 21st century!

That's the Colossus you can't see in the bottle shot, by the way. He would be about 800' high, as Morro Rock is over 500'. (Its nickname of the Gibraltar of the Pacific was clearly bestowed by someone who had not seen the original, which is three times the height, stuffed with guns, and crowned with monkeys. Ahem.)
Next white wine label, the power plant stacks being torn down by a titanic Cthulhu, while the Colossus snores next to the breakwater, empty bottles around him. Big bottles. I have not identified the artist to carry out this work yet.(2011 Grenache Blanc with about 20% Viognier.)
