I recently bought an aerator that you stick in the top of the bottle and pour the wine through it. Seems to work really great. I don't think I am coordinated enough to handle the Vinturi set up. Afraid I will put more wine outside the glass than in the glass...
I've seen them in Marshalls store yesterday for $25 each.
I own the tower and the red wine aerator. One of the problems with using the aerator on the tower is that the holes of the aerator are too close to the base where the aerator sits. What happens is some of the airflow gets constricted and if any wine drips from the air holes for w/e reason it drips all over the tower and makes a mess. I usually end up using the aerator on its own without the tower. The aerator itself works great, just have not had the best experience with using both at the same time. Maybe I'm the only one with this problem but the aerator is great nonetheless. Cheers!
I bought the Vinturi aerator and tower recently. The tower has a nice arty, modern look. But my wine glasses aren't as tall as those in the marketing photos, so I have to hold the glass closer to the aerator (usually, I just hold the aerator in my hand) to avoid splashing the wine all over the table (NOT cool). For me the tower is just a fancy holder when the aerator is not in use. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are ordering as a gift.
Not even 0800 Pacific and the Red is --SOLD OUT-- Ya gatta be kidding. Really wanted that screen thingie for red debris. However the spirit unit just may make some budget Glenlivet tolerable.
+1 - yeah, bummer.

I love this thing. I have the "red wine" aerator and a friend has a white one. My friends and I have had blind taste testings with and without aerating and you can really tell the difference especially on cheap wine. (We never think ahead to decant wine.) BUT...2 different aerators for red and white wine? No one has been able to detect a difference between aerating with the white one as opposed to the red one. You only need one of these. For those of you with both, the marketing people love you!

White wines usually don't need as much aeration as reds. The white device has only one tube that is introducing air into the wine as it's poured as opposed to two on the red. The red one would work, but you'd lose a lot of the subtleties of a soft white wine that can be killed by over-aerating with the red one.
...you can't unsee it. I know. I thought this was something DRASTICALLY different on sale. And, frankly, I was a little taken aback by Wine.Woot's audacity!
Really? I just bought 5 - 1 red (and 1 white) for us, then 4 additional reds for Christmas presents (with 3 marked as gifts in a second order). EDIT - Looks like David found some more (see above).
willisae wrote:Does anyone know if Woot will mark this as an over-21 package and require someone to sign for it? I usually ship all Wine Woot orders to my work address, but sent this one to my home address and now I'm worried they'll mark it as wine/over-21...
no need for 21 year old sig on non-wine items. thanks,

whew! good to know. thanks!
Show the full set, read the fine print for one only....not cool.
Just bought two reds as gifts. I bought a Soiree a few weeks ago and really enjoy it. Someone might be getting a slightly used Soiree for Christmas, depending on how the Vinturi stacks up.
I'm glad I checked in here before ordering. It does appear on first glance that the deal is for all of them, which would be an unbelievable deal. I already have the original red wine version and it does work.
Paging penguin. You have a number of posts regarding your friends going to Sonoma. Responses are needed.
chado006 wrote:A little jealous here... haven't been able to spring for a bottle of 18 as of yet. Would it even need the aeration though?
Won;t know until I try it out!
Where did it go? Where did it go? I was hoping to add to my Soiree collection! So sad...
I'm a big fan of the Vinturi for red wine, but this is the first time I've seen the one for spirits...I had never even thought about aerating booze. I didn't jump in before the deal ended, but I'm still pretty intrigued by the concept, especially after reading people's testing reports. Tonight I think I'll put some liquor through a wine Vinturi and see what comes out the other end!
Has anyone's shipped? I am hoping I get it in time for Christmas.

nope, mine has not shipped yet.. =/
Neither has mine! *shakes fist*
In the same boat. I bought 4 items from Woot that night (Kids, Woot, Home & Wine). I have received all of them but have yet to even get shipping info for this item. In other news, the therapy to cure my Woot addiction has proven to be a failure. Hopefully fixme.woot will start up soon with discounted medical services. EDIT 12/7: Received my tracking number from Woot. Though it is stil not in the Fedex system yet.
So excited to grab this deal, but really hoping to get shipping info soon! This is meant as a Xmas gift for my folks and they are traveling up here for Xmas. Will be really disappointed if it doesn't get here in time.

mine finally shipped today at around noon!
Got my shipping info, expected delivery of Dec 17...
Smart Post vs. Pony Express, its a toss-up. Meanwhile, while waiting for my vinturi stand to arrive, I've created a nice substitute out of a clothes hanger and an egg carton.
Got my Aerator Today!
I'm in Dallas watching my tracking ship from Dallas to Los Angeles, finally making its way back to Dallas on Sunday the 11th where it continues to sit 4 days later. Great Job Woot!
Can anyone tell me what's so SMART about SMARTPOST? It said it would arrive today, it didn't and there's no date of arrival now. Waiting for this one stinkin thing to be able to ship out a box as a gift. Maybe it will arrive by New Years?
All of mine arrived over the past couple of days... we tried it with a bottle of InZINerator and, I must say, I definitely could tell a difference and preferred the Vinturi'ed glass in a blind test.

I looked into this and it shows to be at your local post office. I would suggest visiting them or contacting them to arrange pickup or another delivery attempt.
SMARTPOST is a joke. Took 5 days to travel 33 miles. Finally out for delivery today.
