This benefits her in that she's getting better wines for less (via woot prices) and that I often don't even charge her the full amount that even I paid.
So I guess a different way of wording what I posted is that I'm "splitting" the order with my mom, just as if I were splitting with another wooter. Only difference being that the other wooter is my mom.
And yes, I'll be giving her some wine for Xmas too. So some of these bottles may end up as part of that gift.

That is soo nice!! I end up ordering wine and if I don't want (or need) all that is in the shipment, I tell mom she wants some. This way I don't look like a total wine buying addict and she gets wines she can enjoy now. (dad has many wine he is "saving" which translates to... don't touch!)

I don't seem to get them all either. She is healing well. Changed steri-strips today. Hopefully looks good on Thursday.

Yeah, the two weekends in a row of big time traveling just won't work for me. I might theoretically be able to pull it off, but it'd just be brutal.

I also don't understand the concept of hosting a wine tasting party of friends (or wooters) and then charging people to open your bottles. If you're concerned with recouping your investment, then stop buying so much wine! Before I left Chicago I opened a dozen bottles of my wine and was more than happy to share at no cost to anyone. It's money I already spent and I'm always more than happy to share with others who appreciate (and some who don't know the difference between good wine and Boone's Farm).

So anyone who wants to come to AZ and drink wine, it's on me

Because it's not just any Two Buck Chuck wines we're opening. And we really don't even come close to recouping the cost nor even close to the value of the wines.

Well, spent the whole day with my sis while my mom got an angiogram done. Some blockage, but supposedly meds will take care of it. So depending on doc, hip surgery will take place on the 12th.

And my mom is supposed to rest, but does she? Nooooooo. Much better to drive sis and I crazy. Well, more crazy.

Plus it's in lieu of people bringing their own wines. A lot of the folks who come to my gatherings aren't wooters, just friends, and they're terrified of picking "the wrong wine" from the store to bring because they don't have their own stash. Despite my reassurances that I really don't give a crap if they pick something out of "theme" - it's a learning experience. They're just terrified, so they'd rather shop Cellar Chez Chat. Also they know they'll get a good deal - most of these friends say they can't spend more than $10-$15 on a wine for the day, and when they shop my cellar for the gathering, they end up typically with a $30-$40 bottle, and often worth more since most of them were bought on woot originally. So really for their $10-$15 they're getting what could have cost them upwards of $50-$60 in a store.

After the first (purchased) picks are gone, I usually declare open season on the cellar anyway and generally go through an additional three or four bottles at no cost to anyone but myself, and people know this. I also will regularly declare Cellar Chez Chat open for business for people to buy (at my cost) bottles to take home for themselves. So the rule of thumb is that if it is opened with me, you end up paying about a third to half of my cost, but if you take it home, you pay for the whole thing.

I think my house is better. Yesterday was the end of the nasty diapers and frequent baths for the baby. The daughter never was sick, just faking for attention. Mom was sick, but mom never gets a flu shot cause "every time I get one I get the flu" mentality. Not that I brought that up constantly or anything. Oldest kid was basically banished for the weekend so he didn't get sick since he JUST got his flu mist. I didn't get sick cause I gots my shot like a smart adult. And yes, pulling an Elvis would not have been good. Glad you avoided it, but at one point I bet you woulda been ok with it.
