I agree with Cesare, I have had the Elysium Black Muscat and it is yummy. Was also First Sucker even with latency issues between Jakarta (vacation) and the USA. Woo hoo!

I'll see your pair and claim trips ... I've had the Starboard as well and it is likewise delicious

Edit: it's now 10:00 a.m. and I realize I forgot to say "In for 3"

I'm in for one although I'll probably gift the kiddie wine to an unsuspecting family member!

WOW! Essensia and Elysium are classics in their own right, and well worth anything good you may have heard. I've not had the other two, but they're Quady and that means the highest quality sweet wines.

This is an excellent entry point for those who haven't experienced the pure luxurious opulence of a good sweet wine.

I'd reckon they'll age well, too. I hope so, because I have a bottle of '88 Essensia in my cellar. ;)

Unfortunately it's illegal to sell them in the US ever since the Pact Act was passed. All flavored cigarettes were banned except menthol which apparently is not a flavor.

I now buy them online from a guy in Indonesia (I have smoked cloves exclusively for the last 20 years) and cross my fingers every time that they won't get rejected by US Customs. Planning to quit in 6 months anyway on my birthday, and the hassle of getting them will just make it that much easier!

Angel Wine!!!! And yes, that is what I have my local wine shop trained to call it.

Electra's low alcohol level, light flavor, and light bubbles make it a lovely, easy, summer evening drink. The low alcohol level means this lightweight can have this with a light dinner or for dessert and not have to worry about alcohol repercussions the next morning.

I would be in if this were from Quady North. I love Herb's Syrah and Cab Franc (hint, hint).

Was going to buy my first wine.woot deal as a gift for my dad and have it delivered to his place in Louisiana, but unfortunately it's not on the approved states list.

I don't normally purchase from wine.woot, so I was hoping someone could answer this for me: is Louisiana normally not on the list of approved states for wine delivery/shipments? I can almost swear that when I was looking to make a wine.woot purchase for my grandma last year that they were okay to go, but I could be mistaken...

EDIT: Answered my own question by looking at the listings for the past few days. Total bummer that this deal doesn't ship to Louisiana, though.

The wines do not ship from the woot itself. Thus each winery/saleshouse has to pay a bribe, err fee, to many of the more backward, err corrupt, states.
If the bribe costs more than your going to make from a state, you usually don't work with that state.
Some wine woot person will undoubtedly add links to organizations which fight this system of bribes.

Its even more limited for international wines.

I sit here trying to figure out if I am in for 1,2, or possibly 3.

God, totally envious! Wish I had the extra money to pick up one for myself. And thank you for the answer.

Does anyone know the laws (if any) for shipping wine as a gift? Tempted to just buy it and have it shipped to my place on the approved states list and then send it to my dad closer to Christmas.

EDIT: Looking at the information on the FedEx and UPS websites, it looks like this might be too much of a hassle. Alas, I'll wait for another deal that ships directly to him.

Ok I had to jump in on this. This winery is right up the road from me and we have been there several times a year. These are ALL delicious!
All but Batch 88 are sweet wines and are amazing as stand alone sippers or mixed in as cocktails. Batch 88 is a port style wine that truly holds it own with some of the great ports out there (I love ports). They are also now making a sweet vermouth (yeah I know sweet?) but it is the only vermouth I have ever just wanted to sip straight. Check out their website also, there are some great recipes and no I dont work for them, lol, I just really like the wines. Oh and BTW this is $80 worth of their wines and even a better savings if you live outside of ca since woot shipping is only $5!!!!

Am I the only one that looks at the alcohol content first?

Is the Electra Orange Muscat 14% ? Cause 4% makes no sense.

4% alcohol for the Electra is correct. Check out the vintner's voice message and the winery's website for details.

FWIW, I have shipped wine and beer to friends as gifts. Wink wink, nudge nudge. Save your boxes from your woot wine buys and a little bubble wrap for extra padding and so the bottles don't rattle around and feel like bottles when the box is handled.
I have an online ups account and print my own labels. It's cheaper than using one of their pack/ship places.

Yes, that's the one I referred to as "kiddie wine". My first thought when I saw 4% was Arbor Mist, haha. Glad I continued to read the descriptions of the other 3 wines as they all sound delicious and I'm sure that the Electra is enjoyable in it's own right. I may just keep that for the times when my girlfriend wants me to open another bottle even though she's probably had enough already!

I'm pretty stoked to try these....

I hear people saying these are really good. so, my Q is: are these entirely sweet, or do they have an acid backbone to them just as a late harvest might?

and I just got the joke. Starboard is Quady right-handed Port!

I've had the Starboard before. In fact, I have a bottle of the vintage stuff I got at the AWS silent auction a couple of weeks ago. I bot my order in. If the winery guys are here, thanks for your support of the American Wine Society!

Quite the coup for WineDavid39 and wine woot! What a Black Friday treat and surprise!!

The Essencia lives forever (I still have some 1981 in the cellar...) and is a beautiful wine!

All of their wines are fabulous. Through the 1979 vintage, Quady made a truly remarkable, extremely long-lived Zinfandel port, the best ever in California IMHO, and I tried every Zin port I could get my hands on back in the '70s and early '80s. Again, I still have some of the '79 Quady in my cellar, to be used on the same sorts of occasions I'll use my '70 and '77 Ports.

If you like dessert wine at all, or think you might, this is an (increasingly rare with all the offerings...) rpm MUST BUY.

You could always get a sympathetic wine.wooter in DC or NoVa to "wootleg" for you. I regularly receive shipments for my disadvantaged friends.

The acidity is fairly high in Essensia, Elysium, and Electra, about 0.9 grams per 100 mls measured as tartaric acid. Our philosophy is the same one that mother nature uses when she makes fruit taste good. Balance sweet with fruit acidity.

D*mn you all, now I'm gonna get this MD shipping or not. One Holiday treat for me that I'll just ship to my family to NH instead:-)

Big question - I emailed woot service and the bday coupon address but maybe I might get quicker feedback here? How to apply my woot b-day coupon to this offer? The code that someone shared on the Zin offer earlier this week didn't work... Thanks!

Was just sipping on the Vinito del Finito with the relatives last night; what a hit that was. Now this... With an rpm endorsement no less! If only it could be three, but two will have to suffice.

It's your woot Birthday - each year in the month that you joined (for you, December)you should get an email to your account address including info to get free shipping for one order anytime during that month.

However, 2 years now and I haven't gotten that email and thus far crickets chirping (or more likely, super-busy woot staffers on the Holiday weekend) in my efforts to get the info for mine! :-/
