There's my woot quota for the month.

Still so tempted to jump on this...

Hi there Deas,

We had a few cases left that the Wine.Woot people asked us for so we obliged. There literally are only a handful of cases left. That is why this sale is only going to last an hour or two. Get yours now.

Here is what I suggest...this is an amazing wine to enjoy with grilled meats. You should invite your best friend over to the house, fire up the grill (pork ribs or bone-in ribeye), and open a bottle or two of this beauty. Guaranteed best meal of the week. Really.

Also, the problem is that once you start drinking good ones all the $5 swill you used to think was a good deal at the supermarket... let's just say your mouth will start to realize why it's $5.

I disagree. Good cheap wine is still good, it's like saying that once you have high end scotch you won't appreciate cheaper whiskys. It's all a matter of mood, taste, and sometimes pairing; I had an excellent $6 cab last night. I mean, it didn't compare to the Cosentino I had the night before, but it was still pretty good...

Well that's fair... and I didn't mean to imply all $5 are wines are terrible, because I've certainly found plenty in that range that I enjoy.

However, I stand by my general point that once you've experienced truly good wine... it's a slippery slope between your checkbook and our fine friends at Woot.

I went in for a couple of these when they were last on Woot. Enjoyed them tremendously, along with my wine drinking, barbecue eating friends. Because of the round velvety taste, and the pairing with the grill, ended up drinking 3 of my order of 6 already.

With my fairly large cellar, drinking 3 of these quickly is quite a feat. Thinking hard about replenishing my cellar, a terrific wine at a fantastic price! And for a good cause!

Judd from Humanitas here -- I made 11 barrels of this wine -- 5 were new french Demptos barresl, 6 were 'mature' french barrels. The combo was excellent -- enough new oak to toast it up, but enough aged barrel to soften the tannins.

MommaDeb,

Not to worry, clearly Judd had the big book of wine adjectives out when he wrote about tar. I think he meant "what in 'tar-nation' are you waiting for?" Buy this wine with the full assurance that we only make really yummy wine. Really. This wine is a truly stunning wine.

Hi there -- Judd chiming in -- head bottle washer. I tried to respond but my server kicked me off! Here's my take on the wine I made (!). Jam -- raspberry compote, a little baseball glove leather, a dab of smoked meats -- a dollop of spice -- but not so much tar. Jim was really referencing some heroin he used to be hooked on. But this is a thick, juicy, full-throttle wine.

Don't be scared, I wrote that. Just wanted to emphasize the strong undertones in this one. It still has plenty of fruit to counterbalance it.

CT has two tasting notes, 91 and a 92 for this, and they both talk about how incredibly delicious it is. You're talking less than $18/btl shipped for a 90+ pt wine. I was certainly sold on that alone.

(Does that help?)

First buy of the day just because it's the end of the day, we've had 3" of rain in the last two hours and I have been biding my time with the .off! The charity got to me and I'm happy to contribute. Let the cream continue to rise to the top.

Humanitas is first and foremost about great wines -- and in the case of our 'Good Earth' tier -- all about a celebration of specific vineyards that really showcase the best of a particular varietal. This 'Weed Farms' Syrah is a great example. But then we take it one step further -- caring not only where the grapes come from...but where they go...and donate to charities local to where the wine is sold finding solutions to hunger, housing & education. So just by enjoying a great bottle of wine, you are helping your own community...one sip at a time!! Drink Charitably!

Clearly Judd is confusing me for someone else. Apparently Judd is confused....again.....he's old you know and forgets things.

Deb, there are really only two kinds of wines in the world, Yucky and Yummy. This is so way Yummy you will kick yourself, or Judd, if you dont buy this deal.

First, for getting my name right... you have no idea what I get most of the time, second because of the more detailed info on the charitable work you do and, third for the great reviews, I have asked the wonder woot! folks to bump my order up to two. I am so looking forward to a delightful (dry) evening on the patio sipping some of your wonderful wine.

Thanks!

Ok, my second purchase (first wine purchase) from wine.woot... hopefully, I don't regret this.

I know I like syrah and liked the way this wine was being described "red velvet theater curtain" and "lead pencil" so I figured it can't be all that bad.

(I'm generally a beer and scotch (neat, with a splash of water) guy, as in I already brew my own beer and would make my own scotch if I could.)
