Here I’ve listed the wines in order of my preference and I’ve added some of new notes:

Hi Janae,

This was very useful and is very tempting.

The only reason I'm holding off is that my evil landlord is doing construction in my small NYC apartment. I'd have to drink a case this week to make enough space here.

Whether I pull the trigger or not tonight, it's good to see you back and I look forward to buying from you in the future, if not now too.

I would *think* that Cabs require more aging and Sangios and Merlots require less time in the bottle, but I am just spitballing there. I have found that if you don't have any aerators or decanters around, you can just pop the cork and let the bottle breathe that way before you drink it. I have a Vinturi but only use it if I am doing a quick taste after I pop the cork on a bottle. I always try to decant my reds for ~30 minutes.

Temp-wise, I have a dual-zone cooler... my whites are set to 47 and my reds at 52 degrees. The other wines that I will be drinking shortly are in my rack and temp in the house runs from 65 in winter to 72 in summer. It's not a good idea to let temperatures fluctuate too much as I have read it can reak havoc on the wine's structure.

The wife can drink wine in her 3rd trimester, but she doesn't have a taste for it, nor can she eat red meat or chicken, so food pairing is nearly impossible as well. I guess all those hormones don't do well for her tastebuds/stomach.

Thanks for the thoughts and info! As a college student I haven't bought a nice decanter - a free beer pitcher or extra large cup seems to work relatively well in a pinch (yes - I know that is close to sacrilegious if not dead on so). Aerator then decanter - must be on the list... maybe with some of this money I am "saving" by passing on this woot... although still slightly recovering from the recent woot off...

Thanks again! :-)

Thank you Chango for the vote of confidence--hope to see you soon --virtually or otherwise

I might be in NYC soon to visit a prospective distributor---he services a lot of Yugoslavian and Italian owned restaurants in Manhattan ---and he reminded me there a lot of eastern Europeans in the restaurant biz...and the alcohol dist biz!

Anyway, sorry I got confused--ran into the house for dinner (was in the winery office) and my last 2 posts were from my husband's log in that he had opened on the home computer.

Thank you to the Wooters for participating and for helping us through this tricky 2nd Qtr.

Not at all! It's perfectly functional, and as a college student, why allocated more funds and storage to a dedicated decanter? If you're already buying and appreciating good wine, you're ahead of the game. If you're giving your young, acidic reds some air time in whatever vessel, you're way ahead of the game!

Chango, I'm in for a case but really, really could do just fine with one of each variety instead of two. If at some point you have the space and desire for half this case, just PM me (and hopefully I'll figure out that you've done so, and figure out how to read it) - I'm in NYC. BTW, pretty sure I've met you in real life, seeing some music - probably at a Vision Festival some years ago. A family member is a free jazz drummer.

Got my mixed case yesterday, opened the Merlot. After all it was the winemakers wifes least favorite, so I figured I'd work my way backwards.

While I'm not a huge Merlot drinker, I found it to be a very nice wine! Can't wait to try the others, quite a nice assortment IMHO.

I popped open the Sangiovese last night. First sip had nice fruit taste. The nose was very interesting as well. A very nice wine, for sure. This is the first bottle of the Sunce collection that I have tried and I enjoyed my first glass very much. I have the bottle corked and sitting out now-- looking forward to it when I get home : )

Corks of an extraordinary dubious quality, having had an impact on the taste (bad) of some of the wines I got (haven't had the courage to taste them all - opened three bottles, tasted and stopped the "experimenting" right there).

See here sample pictures (traces of wine all the way to the top of the cork!):
