Speaking of Invino, they have some 80s-90s vintage Raymond Cabs. I still have a few bottles from another time they were on Invino. Had the 1983 which had some very nice leather flavors and the fruit was still around nicely.

Actually I think Jean Phillips bought the property. Jean used to be the owner of Screaming Eagle.

Pretty decent deal up on WTSO right now, appears to be anyway. 2006 Seavey Cab for $55, only have to buy two for the free ship.

In my opinion, its a matter of personal preference, budget, and what you are looking for in trying different wines. This is above my budget as well, but if I can score a wine for more than 20-25% off at this price point I will consider it. The way I justify purchases like this to SWMBO, as if we were out at dinner, I would end up spending that much for a bottle I could purchase online for $15. So for the same price I can get a whole different wine experience from what I'm used to.

With more $$$ cabs, you can get a balance that allows the wine to age and evolve if you cellar them over time. This can bring out secondary flavors (earth, leather, etc) and a complexity that are not necessarily seen in many fruit forward/drink now/less expensive cabs.

Other things to consider when aging cabs, is that they can have drinking windows where they go through a dumb period where the initial fruit flavors may be gone, and secondary flavors haven't emerged yet, and need to be held before drinking. I can't comment on why this happens but I am sure others here can talk at great lengths about this but it should be considered when you are contemplating on opening bottles.

Proper storage conditions are important if you do choose to cellar or age the wine. I have a small wine fridge that maintains temp and humidity, where I keep my more expensive bottles that I plan to age. Everything else tends to go in wine.woot boxes in the basement. I am learning about this too I just find the idea that wine can be evolving to be an interesting concept... here's an interesting article (and counterpoint I guess)to read if you are bored...

WTSO had the 2005 Coniglio Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District up again.

Although I have a few bottles of this stashed away, I've yet to try one. BUT the CT reviews are almost nothing short of orgasmic....so I caved and picked up two more.....definitely have to try one, but I've found Spring Mountain Cab to be fantastic, which if one's to believe the ten CT reviews, seems to hold water

This just arrived yesterday from the 03/20 purchase. Too soon after shipping to try it. But it does look very good based on a significant number of CT raters. I don't usually spend $30 a bottle, but taking the train of thought that I would spend more than that at a restaurant, I can sometimes cost justify it.

You're SOL on the 05 Cathedral. in the last wooting, Scott said that was it. We may see 06 or 07 on here though at some point. that would also be nice. I have a baker's case of the 05 and I'm cellaring most of it!

you may be looking at the wrong Cab, because CT's a mess on GB. It's the Estate Cab
it's good. I refused it at $40 but at $25 it's great.. I got the 08 from wineshopper last month when it came up.

If anyone gets some and wants a mini vertical. I'm happy to swap some 08 for 07 so er both have verticals. California's pretty reliable and 08 was good for Cabs too.. the 08 and 07 both have good points / reviews.

Tasted by *Vine* on 2/19/2012: Popped and poured. Medium-plus black cherry hue. Upon first pour, a nice aromatic profile of tar and tobacco shows first. With a bit more air, black and red fruits show and are complimented by nice notes of mint, earth, and just a touch of oak. Medium-plus body. On the palate, this shows similar to the nose, with cherry, currant, herbs, and a subtle spice from oak. Overall, quite youthful and classically Sonoma in that it needs to rest for a few years before becoming more accessible, with tannins a touch astringent on the moderate close. If it helps, I ordered 4 of these the first time it was up on WTSO, at $25 -- just ordered 4 more at $25, just a great price with shipping included. We opened the first one last week with some friends and really enjoyed it. Flavorful and smooth, has some nice heft to it, which is the kind of cab we prefer -- helped that the wife really liked it too, so I felt comfortable violating my SIWBM before she woke up this morning.

Anyone have any experience with this: Muga Reserva Rioja 2007

Looks interesting, but hoping to get some opinions from those with a better trained tongue ;)
