Trader Joe's is on a roll incidentally: Kunde estate 08 Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot for $12 also.
And they have this Parson's stuff that's on wineshopper for $25 also for $12 or $15.

Glad Kyle posted the PS.. I fell asleep before managing to.

I was in meetings all day and went to order 6 more and it's sold out. Weird- they had the sale posted to run for several days, why do that if there's not much stock?

Hopefully it shows up again...

I inquired about that wine and others here in Illinois and of course our TJ stores carried zip. I asked the manager point blank if they reserve the best for California because that is where headquarters is. He confessed that in his words "They reserve the cream of the crop for CA".

I'm in CA. So is Tyger, Richard, and Klez. Not sure about the rest of them. If you'd like, I can ship you a couple bottles at cost. It would be a bit pricier, obviously, but much cheaper than the retail sticker. PM me if you'd like.

Trader Joe's has 2006 Quixote PS (normally $60/bottle) relabeled as "Lance and Windmill" for $15/bottle.

Good luck finding some if you're interested!

In the Chicago area, I found the PS but it was 2007 (not 2006) and at $15.99. Still picked up a few bottles. Probably need to cellar it for a few years.

WTSO now has the 2004 Panza Cabernet Sauvignon Stag's Leap Ranch up for $24.99.

Tempting....but still haven't tried a bottle of the 2005 I have.

excellent. I'm in the bay area now. might add to my eight (minus one gift)

If they're selling off the 04 too, I think it's so that they can get publicity, and they may be short of cashflow, given their high prices...
I'm not in on the Cab because it's a Cab with Syrah, and will be a fruit bomb. I want a fruit bomb in the PS, as that's one of PS's strengths, in that style, but I go for better-structured Cabs, senza Syrah!

Yes, and I loved it. On rpm's recommendation. All the 2010 Tourists had it. the 03 was just coming into its own... do this can age and integrate. But most people are not as patient.
It's darker in flavour than most Carneros, but good acid, fine Pinot flavours, complex clone blends, and not overblown and overoaked. Though pH is in the higher range than rpm usually recommends.

EDIT they got more stock.. it's back up, but this lot shipped 21st March!
I got a case, and pinged rpm. Please tell him, if anyone here has his phone number. I emailed him.. he's the reason we know this wine.

agreed. too hot for SB, though the quite warm South Africa can make some nice ones, albeit less concentrated, and more grapefruit than gooseberry (NZ flavour), and dirt cheap if you're in Cape Town.

I might try it for the money though. Even though I'm not a fruit bomb fan, one for the money to see what "good" aussie red is, rather than the crap they send to England is. I'm off to the SoMa TJ's to go and have a look!

Yes, definitely a great buy for $15. Reminded me a bit more of some Sonoma Coast pinots I tried with the earthy, tar undertones which I enjoy.

WineShopper is very frustrating. It seems like they can't ship to Texas even though wine.com can now ship to Texas. Ugh. At least I was able to get in on this during the last sale.

More from Trader Joe's.
-Gloria Ferrer bubbly for $15. Rated as well as Domaine Chandon by some, so I bought a taster bottle.
-Apparently the $25 TJ's is asking for Mollydooker is good value. The guy recommended it. anyone had that? Sounds a bit culty yto me.
-Tried the $15 Parson's whatever Aussie cab/shiraz from TJ's. It's ok but I'd only spend $10 on it personally, and then only if. I'd run out of d'ontspille or the like. No depth. Yawn. Certainly not worth retail, or the $25 wineshopper are asking.
Here's the SF SoMa TJ's stock of Quixote, er... Lance & Windmill:
and incidentally, note the white-label Buena Vista PN in the background

Why? Do you think the 07 is better or will be better (once aged)? I tried one yesterday (PnP). Pretty smooth, nice fruit, dry tannins. Will try it again today, since it's now had some time to decant.

Also noticed the picture has "pitite". Guess the folks at TJ's can't spell.

07 and 05 reputedly the best Napa vintages since 01, though it depends on micro-climate. 06 was still pretty good, but somewhat hotter, with concomitant overripening potential. 07 will cellar longer!

On the lance and windmill it's spelled petite syrah, but apparently that is a misspelling that Quixote uses as well. I posted my review of the '06 under Quixote.

In reference to the 07 Buena Vista Ramal: Had one bottle a few weeks ago, decanted it and paired with pork tenderloin. It got better and better as the night went on. Didn't take detailed notes except to say it was the best Pinot I've had, and amazing for the price. I liked it better (although it was different, darker with higher acidity) than my Davis Sonoma Coast Pinots. For $15 it's ridiculously good.

Turley spells it "Petite Syrah," as well.

And I'm with Richard -- 07 > 06. Although, I am certainly not complaining at the price we paid.

I am working on the Moon Mountain Zin Port right now. I have been out of the wine scene for a bit after surgery and antibiotics. I have to admit I am glad I got these on the Invino MM firesale because I am not impressed and would not pay anywhere near retail. Maybe it is just me.

But it was nice-for-the-price. Nothing complex here, just a pleasant rather simple port-style Zin; the SO approved, that helps.

Yes for the price I paid I am happy, however it is REALLY thin. If this port style wine were a woman, she would be anorexic.

Anyone in Chicago want to split a purchase of this? If we buy 7 bottles, it's free shipping. At $15 each, those who have it say it's a great deal. Of the 7 (or more), I'd be happy with taking 3 or 4, your choice. This deal won't last long on Wineshopper, so let me know.

Has anyone ordered from Full Pull wines yet? They seem to be setup a bit like Garagiste where they offer you cheaper prices if you wait to build up a case, but they only feature Washington State wineries:

http://www.fullpullwines.com/website/

Today they have Spring Valley's Frederick and Uriah 2008 for $36.99 which is $2 more than LastBottle had the Frederick up for last week.

This site looks best for people located in Seattle since shipping prices are high.
