With a $10 off coupon code and going out of business prices how could I resist? I got a case (in 3 orders so I could use the coupon 3 times along with the $5 shipping)

05 Cab Franc
06 Cab Franc
04 Petit Verdot Blend

06 Petit Verdot Blend
07 Petit Verdot Blend

I figure the 07 merlot, malbec, and PV can be used to learn the particulars of bordeaux blending grapes, then that gives me 2 other verticals and three other nice wines.

Thanks for the heads up and codes.

Anyone actually know if these(now cheap) wines are any good?

Is it broke or just fractured?

Thanks for the code, I may pick some of these up tonight if I can get approval. The $10 shipping is a steal for shipping to Ohio. Would normally run $25-30 which I why I love woot so much.

I almost skipped getting in on the Moon Mt blowout, but after seeing a couple of posts, and then learning that, other then the Dry Creek Zin, the rest of the wine was made with estate grown mountain fruit from Mt Veeder (the Sonoma side), I couldn't resist. I LOVE mountain fruit from Spring, Diamond and Howell Mountains. I also like that they are lower alcohol, that'll help the aged ones.

Thanks for posting the coupon code. I've had several orders from Invino this month, but tossed the cards, I'll have to keep an eye on them in the future!

I ended up going in on:

2006 Estate Cab Sauv Agua Caliente, Sonoma Valley *Cellar-Worthy $19.99
2006 Estate Single Lot Cab Sonoma Valley *A Wine to Lay Down $17.99

2007 Estate Grown Malbec Sonoma Valley *Organic Fruit Offering $12.99

2001 Estate Cabernet Franc Sonoma Valley * 'Intensely Pleasing' $14.99
2004 Estate Cabernet Franc Sonoma Valley *An Explosive Beauty $14.99

2000 Estate Grown Merlot Sonoma Valley *Evolved & Well-Aged $9.99
2007 Estate Grown Merlot Organic, Sonoma Valley *Parker's 95pt Vintage $9.99

2005 Estate Grown Syrah Sonoma Valley *Parker's 95pt Vintage $9.99
2006 Estate Grown Syrah Sonoma Valley *The Pièce de Resistance $9.99

2004 Petit Verdot/Cab Blend Sonoma Valley *Estate Grown $13.99
2007 Petit Verdot|Cab Blend Sonoma Valley *Organic Fruit Offering $12.99

All I gotta say is I hope this Moon Mountain stuff is good, or I'll have a boatload of cooking wine

Yes, this is what ended up selling me as well. I ended up getting two cases of this stuff, so I've got my fingers crossed!

I love a good Petit Verdot, so I'm hoping that Petit Verdot/Cab blend is nice.

I grabbed a half-case of the PV/Cab. Nice vertical there as well as with the CabFranc. Sounds like it will be fairly fruit forward wine, but if it has some structure to it as well, it should be a great buy (fingers crossed!)

Attempting to sleuth the PV's as well on CT, but don't see any that claim to be a blend, on only these four
2007 PV, 2006 PV, 2005 PV, 2004 PV
as likely candidates. I like the idea of a vertical, but with the varied blending I'm not sure there would be all that much to learn, but welcome thoughts and opinions.

Those are the CT headings I put my PV vertical under as well.

I think the reason for the blend is that the PV grape can be so imbalanced by itself, traditionally used in small amounts in blends. I'm betting that the 30% Cab Sauv make this a much more complete wine. I also bet that it will taste significantly different than a standard Cab Sauv.
Lastly, if there is one varietal that many intermediate wine drinkers can note the varietally correct flavors for, it would be cab sauv in my mind (just through sheer experience) and therefore just subtract those flavors from the profile in your mind.

kylemittskus wrote:Indeed! Last I heard, BevMo was in a lawsuit over this exact practice during their 5-cent sale.

What they do seems legit to me, although it makes me unhappy. All of their wines have a regular price and a clubbev price. Most of the time the clubbev price is about 20-40% below the regular price especially for their vineyard partner wines.

But in some cases the clubbev discount is larger and goes beyond 50%, so when the 5 cent sale rolls in (twice a year typically) some of these wines can actually be more expensive during the sale. (which is the basis for the lawsuit.) The Key to this sale is figuring out which wines they brought in just for the sale to bring serious wine drinkers in, these are the wines you buy. Last time it was the 04' Arrowood reserve cab. which was a fantastic deal for $25 a bottle and sold out at many of the stores immediately.

Another key thing is to avoid the vineyard partner wines (marked clearly on the rack label in store.) These are not good deals and cannot be found outside of Bevmo typically which should be all you need to know.

Last 5 cent sale they had the 06' scott harvey old vine reserve for roughly $15 a bottle, which is comparable pricing to what it has been offered here at. And they have a clubbev everyday price of $11.39 on the Ramsay North coast Pinot Noir, which I think is a great deal and a little less than what the 08' was offered here at.

I don't necessarily agree with Bevmo's business practices as it potentially can lure unsuspecting customers for paying more for both good and bad wines but if you are savvy and willingly to do a little research you can grab some great stuff at very low prices.

PS. The current vintage of the 04' Arrowood cab I got at the bevmo 5 cent sale for $25 is listed at $90 a bottle. I call that a steal.

I see Invino put a few 2007 Cab Reserve Mags up!!

Wow that is a fantastic deal on the Buena Vista Pinot, and 2007 was a fantastic year! Bummer you have to order $99 for free shipping, not sure I need seven bottles

The bottle on their ad looks like it has a screw top? I don't recall seeing BV using screw tops on their estate Pinot Noir?

Anyone want to do a split on the BV?
