For those of you that are Illinois residents, Lettuce Entertain You restaurants has started a wine sale website. They are currently only shipping to Illinois, but plan on expanding soon from what I have read.

I saw that. Wish I had bought during their 50% off sale recently. I had a friend who was thinking of ordering some wines and I told her that I'd be in for a couple of bottles but she ended up not ordering...the Invino deal is good but not great. You have to buy 6 for the special shipping deal - $15 right now for refrigerated shipping (I'm in Texas like you) - the cost is about $16.50 per bottle. I know you can combine offers on Invino, which is nice, to get their discounted shipping, but I don't actually have room for 6 more bottles. Already trying to figure out where to put what I've got now. I'm buying faster than I'm drinking!

Yes, I've got the same issue with buying faster than I'm drinking, but if you have them hold until fall and combine with other orders the shipping will only be $10 for a case though.

Through an exchange I had with Lot 18 this morning with respect to my complaint that they only had 1 new wine up today, I have been informed that they have something planned for this afternoon. I would guess this will be another installment of "Wine Friday" when they offer 4 or 5 selections for a short period of time-- perhaps even free shipping. Keep your eyes peeled!

looks like they're undercutting Invino with the "vino family" wine.

I missed their 2004 Cab on lot18, two bottles for $22....can't beat that for a Rutherford aged cab.....now the question is, is it any good?

Has anyone tried the Thumbprint Cellars Four Play on WTSO? It looks like a very nice wine from the reviews, but a 2009 looks like it'll have to lie down for 5 years before it gets itself together.

The label on the vino family cab sure is gimmicky looking, but for that price point, it doesn't have to shine too brightly to be a solid wine. Will post comments to CT upon tasting.

Don't know how I missed this one, but WineShopper.com has a stellar deal on:

Schug 2007 Heritage Reserve Caneros Pinot Noir. Only $21.99 a bottle which is way cheaper than anyone else.

The nice thing about wineshopper/wine.com is that you can schedule your deliveries to happen months in the future, so I have most of mine coming in Oct/Nov to avoid the heat.

Snagged four bottles of Kokomo Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007.

It received rave reviews for $24/bottle from winespies buyers, so at $14.99 on WTSO I couldn't pass it up! Sounds like it'll be a very nice Cab, albeit napping for a few more years.

Lot 18 is doing 4 hours of Free Shipping on a handful of wines right now. And they brought back the 2005 Finca Egomei Alma Rioja that I had wanted previously but didn't order because I didn't want to use up $10 of my credits to pay for the shipping.
So I now gots myself a bottle of it ordered.

Question about cooked wine:

I received a couple Chronicle Pinots from Lot18 the other day, and they look fine. I did notice that the cork on one of the bottles was slightly pushed further out than normal (ie the foil was slightly convex rather than concave)Is this evidence that the shipment got cooked, or would the cork really be pushed out a good ways? There is no seepage like the other bottle I received that definitely had a problem, but the cork was not displaced. . . I was going to hold the one bottle for a while, so if it might be cooked I'll email Lot18.

Thanks!

Among the offerings on Lot18 today are woot-favorite and rpm tour stop winery Iron Horse with their Un-Oaked Chardonnay ($40 for 2), 12 other wine offers of varying prices and colors, wine glasses, and some rather expensive food items - chocolate, beef jerky, and coffee. So there's a lot of selections today to go with the free shipping. Its up to you to determine if there are any really good values.

Hmmmm, I'm half tempted to use my last $30 Lot18 credits on the IH Chard. I have almost no Chard and getting two bottles of good IH stuff for $10 sounds like it might be a nice way to go.

Hey you Petite Verdot drinkers out there - you know who you are - WineShopper has a Seven Hills 2007 Estate (Walla Walla WA) Petite Verdot for under $20. WE rated it 91. They have a few other offerings too, of varying levels of interest. Mix 'n' match up to $99, and shipping is free.

Oh, and WTSO just put up a Jocelyn Lonen 2009 Stagecoach Vineyard Cab Franc for $25, free shipping on 2. Jocelyn's been on woot, although not this wine.

Yay for lesser known varietals!

BTW folks, the Jocelyn Lonen on WTSO looks overpriced. Most of their wines are $40 retail, and usu $25-40 street so this isn't a great deal.

Miller Wine Works

This combo includes:
(1) Miller Wine Works Syrah Sage Canyon Napa (Retail $42)
(1) Miller Wine Works Syrah Kiger Family Vineyard (Retail $42)

Free ground shipping on 3 or more combos.

Saw this on last bottle for $32 per 2 pack combo. Went deep and ordered a case between my friend and myself. Came out to $13.66 a bottle shipped, since it was both of our 1st orders(with credits and referrals). BTW, they will hold for free until the weather cools down.

Hmm, Wine.com has a coupon ending in a couple days that you can get their Steward-Ship (ie. unlimited shipping for a year) for only $25, instead of their usual $49. (though I'm sure they do this special quite often)
Thinking this might be a good idea for me to get. After all, I still have at least one bottle I need to buy from them soon (to use up the $70 (for $27) Eversave.com voucher I had gotten. And since the last purchase I got cost me $12.50 in shipping for a single bottle, all I would have to do is make at least one more purchase in the next year to make it worthwhile.
I had planned on never buying from Wine.com again after using this last voucher because of their shipping costs and not being able to combine vouchers, but if another couple voucher deals show up within the next year for them, I could do them without the worry of the shipping.

I did a deal like that late last year, and I think I've already totally gotten my money's worth. Wine.com occasionally has good prices on a few wines as well that are hard to find locally.
