Uncorked Deals has "Sylla Sebaste Barbera d'Alba 2004" up for $17. Anyone have any thoughts? I'm intrigued because there is not a lot of Barbera grown in Alba, but maybe that should be a warning...

Any thoughts on the Invino offering of 2002 Viña Salceda Rioja Reserva for $12.99?

Looks like a good price for a drink now aged Tempranillo...

Is anyone familiar with the Fritz 2007 Fritz Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon being offered at Lot 18?

My local wine store had Mr. Fritz come and do a tasting of his wines. I remember thinking that the cab was good (i have no real tasting notes, or extensive tasting knowladge). The cabs were the last thing i tasted so i might have been buzzed and again i still new to the wine world. I personally liked the Zin's of his the most but Zins are my favorite type of wine. Mr. Fritz was really nice and i had a great time at his tasting. I will always buy his wines if i see them on-line (I already purchased some this morning from the Lot 18 deal).

wish i could put some more detail for you about this wine, but i cant.

I dont think you would be dissapointed in this wine.

The Riverbench PN we just had is up on Lot18, but the 2008 not the 2007. Same price $15 a bottle, though the vintage is not quite as good or cellared!

Interesting to see both options on the same day. I guess on the plus side you can get free shipping if you go in for 4 on Lot18 vs $5 shipping on Woot. I don't think this is enticing enough to make me use my vouchers, but it's nice to see Lot18 have some cheaper options.

A friend of mine, Barry Becton, works for Diageo Spirits and always lets his friends know when Diageo offers their bi-Annual friends and family wine sale. Diageo owns a bunch of different labels: BV, Chalone, New Harbor (NZ), Acacia, Orogeny, to name a few. These prices are rock bottom with free shipping. For instance 2005 Georges De Latour private reserve cab by BV for 550 a case-- about 45 a bottle-- juice that retails for triple figures per bottle. You do have to buy full cases. Follow the below instructions and enjoy!

All prices are per case (yes, 12 bottles in a case, except 1.5L contains 6 bottles and 3L contains 1 bottle) and include shipping right to your doorstep, so the only additional price you pay is taxes. Please be sure that someone over 21 can sign for the delivery.

To access the sale, go to www.employeewineshop.com/register

Name of Referring Diageo Employee: Barry D. Becton.

If you have any issues accessing our site, you can call us: (800) 615-1403. Quantities for the sale are limited so shop early for best selection.

Enjoy the Savings!

Cheers!

Definitely a good deal, but beware... we had a good friend who worked for Diageo and used his discount. We bought a 97 DeLatour case, they sent a 99 case. The only way they would send the correct one was to re-purchase and they would refund when they got the return. Needless to say it was a nightmare to get them to refund, and then we had issues with the shipping costs as well. Granted, this was 4 years ago and they may have fixed some of the issues, and by the description above there is no additional shipping costs, so you never know.

thanks for sharing!

93 octane and diesel are both over $4 here now. We purchased 2 nine bottle orders from the wootoff shipped coast to coast for $10 total. I dont like shipping in the hot months and chances are, most of these sellers are not going to change their bottom line because of higher fuel costs. They dont hedge it. In fact, big brown has a fuel surcharge on each package, so they make more money due to manipulation.

For MN folks, haskells has the RED4 for 10.95 as part of their Spring sale. Another bottle that I'll be stopping by to load up on is the Parallel #45 cotes du rhone for $7.95. This was recommended here recently after I asked about cheap CdR and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great QPR at this price.

Actual wine question -- with my credits I will have $85.00 to spend should I get the 2004 Du Nah Montre or 2008 & 2009 Brian Arden Zinfandel, 4 bottles of each?

I like Zin and the Du Nah sounds interesting.

Thoughts??

Tough call since there is so little info out there on both wines. I went with the Du Nah myself just because the blend is a little odd, and I've got a lot of pure varietals in my cellar, so I'm more interested in interesting blends at the moment.

You might just hold out till the weekend to see if they put up a free shipping deal so you can get two of each.

Does anyone know how lot18 "consumes" credits? On the "my credit" page it simply lists credits and vouchers and usage in sequence. Specifically, I have some credit that actually expires, while other does not. I would hope that they take that into account, and I won't "lose" credits that expire. I couldn't find anything on the website about it...

I think I've got a good understanding of this but I suppose it would have to be verified by lot18. There are three types of credits at lot18:

1. Voucher credit
2. Referral credit
3. Sign Up credit

The Voucher credits are from these websites like LivingSocial, BuyWithMe, etc. These websites list an expiration in their terms like 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, etc. My understanding is that this is the time period you have to actually load the voucher to lot18. Once you load it, lot18 doesn't (or at least hasn't in the past) put an expiration date on this credit.

The Referral credits come from referring friends and this is $25 per friend. These expire in 1 year.

Sign Up credits come sometimes for someone opening a new account with lot18 and also have a 1 year expiration date.

By the way, I still need 3 purchases from mine. My officemates don't realize good deals when they see them! I bought from someone from a couple of pages back earlier today.

I doubt there is any easy way to track it, other than when people post something that states who's link it was they clicked on. That way new people can at least count how many times someone has posted that a particular link was clicked if that person hasn't removed their link yet.
Plus that is just one really long post to have repeated over and over (though I guess it would be shorter if you eliminated the blank space between each person).

Good point, but has to be better than nothing. Plus it was just something to do to kill a few minutes while at work ;) It would still require someone to come remove their name if they got clicks from elsewhere, but it should stop people that were not next up on the list from completing the offer before the person on the top of the list is done.

j0rdantay10r addressed credit expiration a couple of posts above.

As for shipping, it's $9.99, but will usually be included with a minimum order (varies by product). Right now, the Quixote 3-pack includes shipping, while you have to buy 2 Arden two-packs to get shipping included. Note, mixed purchases won't qualify since the wines are shipped by the winery. I don't know how often they run the free shipping special, but I think I've seen it twice so far this year.

actually, I got a "don't forget about us" credit. It was good for a week. The one's that last a year I'm sure will get used before expiration, even with all the other vouchers. I'm not so sure that I will end up using all the vouchers and the referral credit before the 1 week credit expires, hence the question of how the actually USE the credits, not just what they are.

Otherwise, I think it's a good summary.

If you can get a free Lot18 voucher, I think the Quixote is a really nice buy. I might do that myself if the voucher goes through in time.

Otherwise, the 2005 is available for around $40 a bottle, so the Lot18 vertical non-voucher price isn't that exciting especially considering you'd probably want to cellar the other ones for a few years. Wine-searcher shows a website with the 2003 in stock for around $35 which could be interesting to drink right now.

Ahh thank you! Still, I like the price 'Free". and if there's nothing else on my "very good wine to buy / cellar" list, I'll go for it. It's a tradeoff between spending actual money and getting an even better deal on something else... :D

It is a great idea, if executed as originally conceived. The idea of the idea is to click on the link that's currently at the top of the spreadsheet, as the names are listed in chronological order. That way the people who first posted get their quota filled first. That's how we run a proper Ponzi scheme! And lest you think I'm going all rule-bound just for the love of ruliness, please note that I have a vested interest in having people hew to that most excellent rule, since as soon as the 2 guys above me each gets another link, I'm next in line!
