Yes, did the profile - that part is free. Of course I wouldn't pay for it. It was interesting to see the questions they asked, but by the time you're as wine-geekish as most wooters it's clear where all the questions are headed.

These are really good if you've signed up to their steward ship program, otherwise they aren't that great of a deal since their pricing is eh...

Also, they've still got some issues with limited inventory for residents of Texas.

Yeah, it gave me a good snicker. Even if I had money to just throw away like that, it doesn't appeal to me.

Speaking of Invino, they have some 80s-90s vintage Raymond Cabs. I still have a few bottles from another time they were on Invino. Had the 1983 which had some very nice leather flavors and the fruit was still around nicely.

Actually I think Jean Phillips bought the property. Jean used to be the owner of Screaming Eagle.

Pretty decent deal up on WTSO right now, appears to be anyway. 2006 Seavey Cab for $55, only have to buy two for the free ship.

Seavey '06 Cab at WTSO seems like a great deal on a Cab with significant aging potential. Wine Library (often offers Seavey's) has it at ~$79/bottle.

In my opinion, its a matter of personal preference, budget, and what you are looking for in trying different wines. This is above my budget as well, but if I can score a wine for more than 20-25% off at this price point I will consider it. The way I justify purchases like this to SWMBO, as if we were out at dinner, I would end up spending that much for a bottle I could purchase online for $15. So for the same price I can get a whole different wine experience from what I'm used to.

With more $$$ cabs, you can get a balance that allows the wine to age and evolve if you cellar them over time. This can bring out secondary flavors (earth, leather, etc) and a complexity that are not necessarily seen in many fruit forward/drink now/less expensive cabs.

Other things to consider when aging cabs, is that they can have drinking windows where they go through a dumb period where the initial fruit flavors may be gone, and secondary flavors haven't emerged yet, and need to be held before drinking. I can't comment on why this happens but I am sure others here can talk at great lengths about this but it should be considered when you are contemplating on opening bottles.

Proper storage conditions are important if you do choose to cellar or age the wine. I have a small wine fridge that maintains temp and humidity, where I keep my more expensive bottles that I plan to age. Everything else tends to go in wine.woot boxes in the basement. I am learning about this too I just find the idea that wine can be evolving to be an interesting concept... here's an interesting article (and counterpoint I guess)to read if you are bored...

Although I have a few bottles of this stashed away, I've yet to try one. BUT the CT reviews are almost nothing short of orgasmic....so I caved and picked up two more.....definitely have to try one, but I've found Spring Mountain Cab to be fantastic, which if one's to believe the ten CT reviews, seems to hold water

It was WTSO, their offer was on Tuesday:

Coniglio Wines Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 - Tuesday, March 20, 2012 9:10 PM

I've yet to try the Coniglio, but I've loved the Spring Mountain Cabs and Merlot I've tried so far. I picked up four bottles of 2000 Robert Keenan Winery Merlot Reserve Spring Mountain on winebid last year, it's amazing, best Merlot I've ever had bar none (wish I'd bought more).

The Coniglio got a 92 from WE:

By Wine Enthusiast
Coniglio 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain)
Rating: 92
Price: $60.00/750.00 ml
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Appellation: Spring Mountain, Napa, California, US
Producer: Coniglio
Alcohol: 15.80%
Case Production: 600
Bottle Size: 750.00 ml
Category: Red
Very rich and extracted, with massive flavors of blackberries, cherries and currants that taste like they were baked into a pastry, and sprinkled with cocoa, anise, vanilla and a touch of salt and black pepper. Delicious and forward, and should hold steady over the next six years. S.H. (6/1/2010) — 92

The only thing that concerns me about the Coniglio, is that the alcohol level is pretty high, not sure it's a great candidate to lay down, but it should drink nicely for a while.

This just arrived yesterday from the 03/20 purchase. Too soon after shipping to try it. But it does look very good based on a significant number of CT raters. I don't usually spend $30 a bottle, but taking the train of thought that I would spend more than that at a restaurant, I can sometimes cost justify it.

I know you said it was now a library wine, but I haven't given up hope on seeing some 2005 Jana Cathedral come up again. The cheapest I've found it for is $55/bottle, but unlike through WW, SHwines charges tax to NY plus s/h, so it ends up being more than twice what the WW offer was

$0 shipping going on right now so I jumped on the DuNah Pinot, which I had purchased previously. I had actually just opened a bottle this past week, and found it to be very good.

This from the WTSO notes:

Composition: 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot
Bottled: May 2009
Case Pack: 12/750ml
Alcohol: 14.20%
TA at Bottling: 0.64g/100ml
pH at Bottling: 3.80

From what I've seen/read, a pH that high wouldn't seem to cellar for extended time. Is this a NW fruit forward drink now style? Haven't had one yet.

it's good. I refused it at $40 but at $25 it's great.. I got the 08 from wineshopper last month when it came up.

If anyone gets some and wants a mini vertical. I'm happy to swap some 08 for 07 so er both have verticals. California's pretty reliable and 08 was good for Cabs too.. the 08 and 07 both have good points / reviews.

Tasted by *Vine* on 2/19/2012: Popped and poured. Medium-plus black cherry hue. Upon first pour, a nice aromatic profile of tar and tobacco shows first. With a bit more air, black and red fruits show and are complimented by nice notes of mint, earth, and just a touch of oak. Medium-plus body. On the palate, this shows similar to the nose, with cherry, currant, herbs, and a subtle spice from oak. Overall, quite youthful and classically Sonoma in that it needs to rest for a few years before becoming more accessible, with tannins a touch astringent on the moderate close. Very nice and will be especially appreciated by those who enjoy the style. (465 views) - report issue | favorite author
Tasted by DollarMenunaire on 2/17/2012 & rated 90 points: I liked this. An unusual style for California that reminded me of a riper vintage of a Medoc upon opening. Red and blue fruits, roasted sage, cigar box. A couple hours of air took it more to the new world and muted the earthier tones. But an elegantly restrained and unexpected Cabernet overall. If it helps, I ordered 4 of these the first time it was up on WTSO, at $25 -- just ordered 4 more at $25, just a great price with shipping included. We opened the first one last week with some friends and really enjoyed it. Flavorful and smooth, has some nice heft to it, which is the kind of cab we prefer -- helped that the wife really liked it too, so I felt comfortable violating my SIWBM before she woke up this morning.
