You know, I think you're on to something here. I definitely think there are a lot of riper CA wines that benefit from near term cellaring. But if you let them go too long, they lose that exuberance that defines them.

I complete agree. Particularly for people like me who prefer the fruit-forward, in your face style. The old-world style certainly has its place, but I have a healthy appreciation for -- and often times, a preference -- for a more California/international/quasi-parker style.

Don't know if these will have a dumb period.. being Cab they should. That's a q for rpm. or Cathy.

The 2002 is a relatively early bloomer; it's moving into my favorite place where there is still plenty of youthful fruit but the lovely secondary and teriarty floral perfume is jumping out of the glass. The 2003 is still a bit tight. Should begin to yield in the next year or 2?

Yes! The whole concept of wines peaking can be misleading- wine is alive. Like an interesting person, an interesting wine is interesting throughout its life. Certainly it experiences highs and lows but age worthy wines have several peaks over their lifetime.

My brother in NorCal received his yesterday. Mine is due today in SoCal. I hope the summer shipping measures work, because it was hot between Sacramento and LA yesterday, and the trip took over 16 hours (according to FedEx tracking).

Is anyone else in the dark about their order? I'm in WV. I got my shipping notification and tracking number on Tuesday. All week, FedEx was showing they received the information on August 30th and that my package should arrive on September 2nd--but there were never any departure, arrival, or location scans.

This morning, I called FedEx and was told to call the shipper because the label was printed but never shipped. So I sent Woot a message (aware that they probably wouldn't read or respond to it until Tuesday). Within three hours, the FedEx site suddenly says they're unable to process my tracking number and their customer service center says it doesn't exist.

The tracking number still shows up in my order history on Woot, WV is on the list, and my credit card was charged.

I hope I'm anxious over nothing...

Odds are that you are fine. My "Coriyum" got to So Cal no problem last week.

I placed an order for two cases of wine (2000 Chateau Grand Bos Bordeaux and 2008 Sequana Pinot Sarmento - do get some if you find it - sublime...) from a place up North -- they said they are waiting after the 4 day weekend to ship the wine yielding a week delay. Gave me some anxiety also, and anxiety has transformed into a nice anticipation.

My guess is that yours is being held until after the long weekend to protect it from sitting in a warehouse over the 3 day weekend also. Similar to what others are doing for my wine.

Corison is definitely worth the wait. Really appreciative of being able to buy this at a reduced price to experience a true fine wine.

Just popped an '02 from a previous offering (Woot off?), and it is incredible. Head and shoulders above everything else I've had from Woot. We're truly lucky to be able to purchase this at such discounted prices (discounted from the already inflated Napa Cab prices, in general, though, I guess). At any rate, I hope more Corison stuff becomes available here in the future, it's an instant buy for me each time (from now on).

Some Napa Cabs that are not up to this (in my opinion) - Nickel & Nickel, J. Davies (from Schramsberg.

Notes on this 2002 Corison Cab - popped and poured, a bit astringent on the nose at first pour, but quickly blows off to reveal fresh dark fruit. Palate of dark fruit, mixed fresh, baked, and dried, and a nice long finish, ending in chive (for me). This is going to be an EASY bottle to finish in one setting.

I'm in the same boat. Although now the tracking goes back to saying that the anticipated ship date is Aug. 30th. Would be nice if woot would respond to this issue.

I have three Woots, all of which have tracking numbers but that Fedex does not seem to think have ever been put on a truck. One (the Corison) lists its expected arrival date as today, so I guess we'll find out if the problem is Woot or Fedex shortly.

Eeek! It looks like my package has been sitting all weekend in Kansas City. FedEx finally showed some movement this afternoon after having a "info sent to facility" message since last Monday. It was supposed to be delivered last Friday

I hope, hope, hope that it has been well-cared for! It arrives tomorrow.

Glad I'm not the only one! Mine disappeared from FedEx for a day. Now it's back, and it's showing that shipment information has been sent and the anticipated ship date of August 30th. :/ The estimated arrival date has been deleted...

My last wine.woot order was pretty warm upon arrival. I haven't opened it yet, but hope it held up. I'm hoping this isn't sitting in a truck somewhere, but is shipped soon!!

Woot sent me the following message:

The tracking label was pre-printed and assigned to your order. Please keep checking the tracking status. Wine and wine related orders such as cheese, desserts, spices, oils, culinary products & games may take up to 3 - 4 weeks for delivery. Please be advised that extra precautions are taken during shipping and anything perishable will be packaged carefully and refrigerated if needed.
Please refer to the Wine “What is Woot” FAQ: How long is shipping going to take?

It finally arrived today along with the Adobe Road Cab....only took 4 weeks. Can't wait to see how good this one is, but I think I will hold on to it for a little longer.

I was in for two, and received my shipment two days ago. When I unpacked it last night, the bottles were wrapped in tissue paper. One of the pieces of tissue paper that was covering the top of one of the bottles seemed to have a bit of wine staining it, as if a bit had leaked out of the bottle after it had been packed.

But there's no apparent damage to the bottle. I didn't pull the foil off or inspect the cork, but the bottles all look the same, and the other three appear to be fine.

Should I be concerned about the "leaky" bottle?

You may want to pull the foil off the one with stained paper. I had a cooked bottle over the weekend. The top of the foil was stained.
