We might be doing that anyway. We'll see.

We had lunch with bowtie in Omaha in September. He's really a delightful guy. Nothing out of character here at all.

I have asked S(wmb)O if she wanted to go for all your gatherings this year(except D and D.I would have definitely went if it wasn't a mushroom hunting weekend)This time I told her I was going, she could come if she wanted. She is interested, she liked the Monkey Prize. My daughter recently moved to Livonia, she would love to go if she isn't working.Between them, someone would go with me.

What've you got for Marriott hotels nearby? I've got a gajillion Marriott points and sufficient Delta points to make it work, but I'm not sure I could convince SWMBO to accompany and leave the twins at home for a night.

IF WD & wf commit, that would greatly increase my chances (hint hint!)

Due to the bottle limitations for tasting and space issues in my house, this event will be limited to the first 24 people who CONFIRM that they are coming. Overflow will be listed on a first-come-first-served basis. Maybes are listed in no particular order. As of 12/13, we are at 24 people between confirmed and maybes, so those of you who are a maybe, you might want to start thinking about confirming.

Excellent!

I have on hand all the Woot cellars except the Rin, Monkey, and Polyphemus. If I am able to make, it can I contribute?

Also, I've been collecting the empty woot cellars bottles. Any chance of a raffle for the Rin and Monkey Prize empties? ;)

I like the idea of a raffle for the empties Thanks to ianhudson, I have my own empty already so when we finish off the Rin, that would make it an extra empty.

We can actually raffle off all the empties, if so desired. Put your name in the bucket for each one you want and we can have separate drawings.

I'm only going to have one Humbug and one Rinfrescante, the others I have multiples of. MIGHT raffle off a full Monkey Prize for someone to take home, too. But that would be a cash raffle - you'll have to contribute a couple bucks to participate.

If it helps, don't mention Detroit I just say Detroit since it's the closest metro center. Ann Arbor could work too...

Although there's a couple swankyish casino-hotels downtown. And there's a couple sweet B&Bs in the Northville area...

For those of you considering coming from out of the area, if you need some additional convincing, PBS has a nice little story about how Ann Arbor is Michigan's "life preserver" that ran a few days ago.

Not too far away is the Pioneer Wine Trail, about 2.5 hours away is the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail, and a good 4 hours or so away you can hit the Leelanau Wine Trail and Old Mission Peninsula Wineries.

First thing that my wife was when I mentioned Ann Arbor, MI, was "Ooh! how close is that to Mackinac Island?"

It looks like about a 4-5 hour drive to/from the Detroit area.

It would be a blast to stay at the Grand Hotel for a night or two, and then come up for the wine.

I'll look into it more and see if its within our budget to arrange a trip like this!
