Madwine just told me that you folks are not satisfied with my engagement on this woot. Please please please ask me what you need to know. tell me why you are on the fence and maybe I can tell you why to jump off and join the side of love and fun!!!

Yes, I have indulged in the good stuff this evening and it was well worth it. Unfortunately, not Madison Cellars but hey its all good.

Madwine is mistaken. You are doing a great job. However, since you asked - talk to me about the challenges and benefits of your specific terrior, s'il vous plait.

Ahh, terrior. That is the magical element that on winemaker can control. it is what it is.
all I can say is that is why I chose to make wine in the paso robles ava. Terrior. i wanted to make very expressive wines with bold flavors that where very distinctive of the local. Paso wines are bold and distinctive.

I love terrior.

Thank you! I appreciate hearing from a winemaker who sees the inherent strengths in even a potentially difficult terroir.

Well, some folks were still asking about the drinking window. I tried to answer, and hopefully correctly, based on one of your earlier posts. You might want to read thru the 40 posts before your 200th to check if there were any others .....

And maybe we should post pics of the vineyard from our SoCal Paso weekend???

Some (maybe most?) of y'all will remember me!

So I'm back, although not finished with the hassles of moving.

And I have the money to buy two of these, but not in a way that I can buy it! If someone would gift it to me, I'll mail you the money the following day!

Please please? I'm running low enough on decent reds to be considering buying a case of NC wine, which is usually way too Scuppernong-ish for me....

In inverse and not complete order. Rinfrescante. Pepper Bridge. Saxon Brown. Monkey Prize. Vina Robles. Ty Caton Tytanium (always!). Roshambo. Polyphemus. Donati Family. Poizon. Montinore. Kent Rasumussen. Mumm Napa. Boss Monster. Iron Horse. Albino Rhino. White Zeppelin, Buttonwood Farm, 8-Bit, Ty Caton Racchus, Twas!

Oh, and I do remember I owe money to a kind soul who bought me some Ty way back when when I was just about to start the odyssey of moving.

If you would pmail your name and address and the amount I owe you, it will finally go out! Promise!

Slight hijack, and I apologize in advance. I just don't know of another way to ask this question to this audience.

I'm going to have a day in Willamette Valley and several hours in Yakima Valley in a couple of weeks and am trying to pinpoint some wineries to visit.

If any of you have suggestions or "can't misses", I'd love to hear them. If you want to keep them from taking over this topic, please feel free to email me at claggett_job at yahoo.com

Gracias!

Is there a way I can add a second to my purchase? When I try to put a second, or change it to two, I'm told my account has already purchased this sale. Help?

[quote postid="3304889" user="madwinemaker"]Most syrah is lacking on the noise, viognier is added in small qtys to brighten the noise in a syrah based red. The problem is that you need to be careful not to add too much. 4% max is normal. I like to make it almost unnoticeable unless of course I tell you.

Good Morning!
Hate to open an old thread, and I don't know if our madwinemaker will re-appear this morning but I awoke in the middle of the night last night and my mind wandered onto an old tale told to me by a good friend and wine shop owner.

He had many a great tasting at his shop in Palm Harbor Fl., and I remembered his tale of a syrah, can't remember the name (sorry), and this syrah had a low % of viognier in it...his explanation, which I suppose came from research, was that the viognier, although a white wine grape, actually darkened the red wine! I'm not sure if this is true, and I'd love to hear some comments, but the syrah we were tasting was extremely dark. Almost inky.

He always got a bunch of "oohs" & "ahhs" with that tale of the white wine deeply darkening a red.

Anyone have a knowledge of this?

Email service@woot.com and ask to up your order. I've done it several times after reading too much in the forums and spending more than originally planned.

I received this reply through service@woot...

Unfortunately, we are unable to add to an order during a sale. You will likely have to place a separate order using another account. The new account will need to have a different email address and credit card. Once the new order has been established, please email us to cancel the first order.

Evan

Not that I would be ratted anyway, but it definitely would take me out of the time requirement. I wanted more wine, but it did not seem worth the risk.

If that doesn't work, and if you have a second address you can ship to (like a neighbor or friend or second work address), you can also "gift" yourself a second order at that second address. It would save you having to open a second woot account.

It used to be that you could slightly alter the address (like Apt. A), but the wootbot got wise to that maneuver.

I was wondering, where in Paso are your vineyards located, and what do you think about the argument that Paso Robles should be split into a Western and Eastern appellation?

I've done it without issue several times, most recently the Seven Hills offering on April 15th. Here's the reply I got last time
"We have added 1 more to your order.

Also on the Lupine Hill offering in March

And for those looking to up their orders, both methods mentioned have worked for me.

Emailing service at woot to up the order has always worked so far for me, and if time is short, I've used the Gift feature with a 2nd address (I use a UPS box for most shipments, so I use my home or my wine locker if I need a 2nd address).

The best is the email to up the order, since you don't get dinged another $7.

You don't need to make a new account. Just "Gift" yourself another order (or 3 ). When on the order screen, click the box for Gift. All you need to do is make a slight modification to the address. Something that will make it different from the first order, but not enough to mess up UPS delivering to your desired address.

EDIT: cj beat me to it cuz work distracted me.

That only works though if they haven't already started processing your order to be shipped out. That's when you get the reply that they can't up the order...because the shipment is already either being processed or already out the door.
