Today is one of our biggest days in harvest. This is a vintage much like 2004, small crop coming in fast and early. My guess, the Littles are knee deep in grapes. Today we brought in 25 tons of Syrah, 13 tons of Barbera and 9 tons of Riesling. Tomorrow we'll be back at it starting at 4 AM to get things ready. I sure like the spec's on this wine and I'm in for one, especially after reading all the great comments from everyone.

Scott, I do believe you are becoming as addicted to wine.woot as the rest of us. The only difference is you can raid the home stash!

Never wooting again. I've learned my lesson about inferior customer service and employees that illegally modify your signature (18 U.S.C. § 1029). Grow up, woot. (Edit of Mod edit: I am telling the truth about you modifying my signature to slander me. I am not attacking people. You dont qualify as "people" until you call me back and I hear a voice on the phone, then we can discuss how your employees are harassing me.) Still no response Since December 2010.

Paso Robles is Central Coast California. Starts in Santa Barbara and goes to Monterey (below San Jose). Sonoma/Napa are Northern California.

don't know if it applies in Sonoma, but 04's in Napa are more "consume now" than 05's.

Speaking of the differences in vintages, I wonder if anyone has any clue as to the 2006 vintages? Obviously, I have some 2006's now with the Wellington's, but those are recent release. Any idea as to the general consensus about California Cabs from that year?

Edit: Obviously my 2006 Wellingtons aren't Cab, I don't know what I was smoking. But I am still curious as to the general feeling of winemakers out there about the 2006's.

Not too many to count, but dang. This place has a way of building a cellar for you.

Scott, you provided me w/ your distributors name in OH during your last Zin offering. Thanks again. I picked up some of your 2005 red label Barbera. Best $20 bottle I think I've ever had. As soon as I get a few bills paid I will be calling to order 1/2 a case of red label and 1/2 case of the wht label.

Apparently first release (officially) is to the wine club. I am planning to open a little too early, so I can taste and see if I want more. I really enjoy their reds, and the 2002 Resonance blend is excellent. So I am hopeful they have a good touch with this blend. And then I will know if I need to buy more.

Big, tasty Cab, great mouth feel. Like the other LV wines, has never failed to impress.
Fruity and complex, but smooth as silk without a fiery afterburn. My brother didn't know he liked red wine until he tasted this Cab.
I think it will cellar wonderfully.

This was my first woot ever and I am pumped to see how it turns out. I really jumped on this one based on the all of the wonderful comments. I read these forums a lot just to up my knowledge of wine and appreciate hearing everyone's insight.
Would people share with me their favorite wine sites? Whether its ones to purchase or ones to show off my "cellar", any links would be appreciated.
Thanks woot! community.

Wow! I've never seen so many black squares on the boards for one offering

I assume that bodes well for the ambrosial character of the wine offered, though I suppose it just means it appeals to more wine.woot.addicts :-)

www.cellartracker.com is a GREAT resource for managing your own cellar, seeing reviews, how much other people paid, seeing other people's cellars, etc.

one thing i love, is if i see, for example, corrado gave a great review to something i also love, then i lurk around his cellar and see what other wines i might think about purchasing. its an amazing resource.

Funny, we've ground to a virtual halt this week, only one and a half tons all week after a big week last week. Not much happening next week either, at this rate - another unseasonably cold day again today. We've had a great opportunity to catch up, stay on top of fermentations better than usual, and I've even been able to get a blog out. Anyone want to guess who my best friend is today?? WineDavid! I was picked as a labrat! I almost fell over with anticipation when the FedEx guy pulled in!! Yippie for me! I've had dinner out planned with friends for tonight all week, unfortunately we're going for sushi. I know this isn't going to be the best combo for this wine, but I'll make the sacrifice for all of those still on the fence. Duty calls you know! What I had been planning on bringing to dinner is my very last bottle of G Sake! As it's byob, I will bring both for us all to enjoy and post notes later this evening.

Thank you , Thank you, Thank You WineDavid!!

A near-lurker gets labrat. Can someone check the bylaws and make sure this is allowed?

Doesn't seem that unjustified (not that any justification is necessary):

jenludwig wrote:It hasn't been that long since I ordered, but I am REALLY trying to cut back. But I can't resist Little Vineyards. I've been waiting for them! It was hard passing up the sake, but my husband doesn't like it. We both loved Little Vinyards last time, and I just about cried when I drank our last bottle. In for three, and ready for my first labrat

Looking forward to the review (as it'll be several weeks before I get to try any myself)

Oh, I didn't take it too seriously or to heart, no worries I'm no good for guessing the cellaring time for a wine, the longest they ever last is 2 years, and thats if I lose them under some other wines;) However, Little Vineyards site does say that the wine should continue to evolve beautifully in the bottle up to 10 years. http://www.littlevineyards.com/new_releases_04cab.html Hopefully that helps all those who always want to know how long they can cellar the wines for!
