Absolutely L, please bring him along...maybe he can bring some human food! We are WELL within the number of folks right now. Hope we get some more!

BTW everyone, I received a very nice package of Wootmas contributions from WF & WD. Cheers!!

We seem to be fairly well set on food and stuffs. Is there anything identified as missing that those of us who have not yet volunteered food or supplies can bring?

Only thing I can think of are paper plates, bowls, etc.? Maybe some veggies and dip (easy one to pick up at any supermarket)?

If you don't mind repeating the color theme from last August's tasting, I think I can supply plates and napkins.

kkv123 wrote:Jwhite, what am I - chopped liver!? You forgot to update the list with my wine [noting that I have finally learned to post a link!] and my holiday baked goods.

You all have been so very kind in making sure that I did not miss out on a pre-holiday tasting that I wanted to make sure I brought nice things...

The wine - which was "left over" from my recent Schramsberg Cellar Club shipment - is the only still wine made by the vineyard. But don't be misled into thinking that it gets short shrift. In recent reviews, Wine News gave it 92 points and the Wine Spectator gave it 91 points. I should cellar it, I suppose, but I'm a firm believer that good wine should be shared with those who appreciate it.

As for the holiday food...at our house it wouldn't be Christmas without sugar cookies. Not the slice and bake kind but the hand-rolled, individually decorated kind. And amongst the multitude of santas, trees, angels and stars, there is one cookie that stands alone as the penultimate family favorite. To my knowledge, it is ours alone. Much to the envy of my family and friends, wooters are receiving an entire plateful of the one, the only...the Abominable Snowman.

I don't know how that happened, except that the oversight is an old one -- I have updated the list several times since you posted your wine. When looking for updates I only check the new posts, so never noticed that I had missed yours on the bottom of page 3.

Mea culpa! Please show mercy on me, your humble servant. I have corrected the oversight, and hope you still allow me to enjoy an Abominable Snowman.

Those ridiculously expensive (but really cool) wine charms remind me of a question I have for everyone...

DOES ANYONE COMING TOMORROW HAVE ANY BOTTLES OF THE PREVIOUS WOOT CELLARS OFFERINGS (prior to Toothstein) THAT THEY CAN PRY THEMSELVES AWAY FROM? I AM HAPPY TO BUY OR TRADE OR WHATEVER TO HAVE THE CHANCE TO TRY THEM (BEGGING INCLUDED)!

On behalf of the group, many of whom are doubtless moving a bit slower today, please permit me to sum up. In a word:

Wow!

Seldom has there been seen such generous hospitality. And so many empty bottles of bubbly at the end of an evening!** If the attendees at Tasting #9 have one tenth of the fun - and beverages - as those at tasting #8, you are all in for one GREAT time!

I am missing you all already...

Cheron, thank you SO MUCH for thinking of us! In tasting it, I picked up some lovely sour cherry notes; refreshingly different than the usual strawberry tones, and so appropriate given the source. My only wish was that you could have been there to drink it with us!

Yippie! See, that's the kind of feedback I was looking for L was all "oh yeah it's good and everyone liked it" but that didn't tell me much about the wine. Cuz I'd never had it before. But L's got two bottles being held for me

Hey, did he bring 2 bottles to the tasting or is he hoarding one for himself?

Oh, that sneaky bugger...he only brought one of them! Thanks again for sending that, we'll have to chastise L for hoarding, especially during the holiday season!!

Hey everyone, just taking a moment to say thanks to everyone for making Saturday evening so much fun! I have to admit, I was definitely one of the "slow movers" on Sunday, but it was a price well worth paying (although I missed that damn Monkey Prize gift pack as a result...AAARRRRGGGHHH!!). We had an absolute blast, so thanks to everyone for all of their awesome contributions (both liquid and solid form), and look forward to seeing you all again!

KKV - if you left your stemware, not to worry...I don't overcharge for storage.
InShadows - got your container, might even wash it for you!

UNCLAIMED ITEM - someone left a red men's large polar fleece shirt. Just let me know whose it is.

EDIT: Forgot to thank WD and WF for the big ol' bottle of Polypheums, and the t-shirts to go with it! Jwhite has a couple of nice pics of everyone in their shirts!

For those who eschew Facebook, I have added a Picasa album.

Enjoy!
