The 1999 and 2000 Santinamaria Zins were phenomenal. I can't wait for the 2001. Haven't had this Syrah.

I shouldn't be buying any wine right now. I've enrolled in a "boot camp"; I'm working out 5+ days per week & started a low glycemic diet (NO ALCOHOL) for 4 weeks. (I allow myself 1 glass of wine each Saturday night...) I've eliminated caffeine, sugar & wine from my diet in order to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

So someone please explain to me why "I'm in"!

one of the most expensive offerings I've seen ... tempting still

bought 3 random bottles (2 Cameron Hughes Lot's) at costco today ... wish I had seen this first

Yeah and it hasn't been on any of their wine club order forms, so not sure if that's the current price or not. I'm sure Jeff or Tracey will be able to answer questions about availability.

EDIT: If those are the current prices though, would have been $3 cheaper for me to buy direct with the wine club discount. Oh well, WD: buy yourself something nice :-)

EDIT X2: For people reading these chronologically, Jeff responded: the 2001 is a library selection and is not yet available to even Wine Club members, it will be made available this fall for $45/bottle, less WC discount. So quite the deal, as usual.

As MaskedMarv points out, shipping appears to be the deal on the price, though it does not appear that the 2001 Zin is available anywhere, including the Saxon Brown web-site. So what you can't get from the numbers here is a better deal on the wine as there is no other deal to be had.

This spreadsheet is very helpful. Doesn't look like a very good deal to me, I come her to save some cash money.

Im going to wait to see if we get some clarification on why the zin isn't on thier order form or the wine club. This is a bit pricey for me for a vineyard I've never had before. Hopefully I get convinced by Wednesday to buy.

If I loved PoiZin, am I likely to love this Zin?

I like Syrah well enough, but it's not a beloved wine like Zins have been for me lately - I've really gotten into them over the past year. So I pretty much got this for the Zin and based on the ravings of others!

Oh and I am BLACK! Yay.

Is there any way you can put some sort of shipping info into the spread sheet?

For example, the most expensive states cost $27 for 1-3 bottles from the winery direct. So to be fair to woot, you should add that value to winery's price. It would edge wine.woot a bit in terms of savings.

The problem with that is that it's usually a different price for different states and shipping methods. Plus you have different shippers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) with different prices.

Also, sometimes you have to add in Sales Tax, depending if you are getting it locally or from a winery in state. Too many variables to add.

He talks about "bottle-aging" and cellaring his bottles.

The 2000 Zin is in their Library Selection, and IMO (depending on whether we buy it all here on Wine.Woot) the 2001 Zin will show up as a Library Selection later this year or next year.

Hmmm, small boutique winery, cheap shipping, high on coffee, in for two.

I'm still sitting on several bottles of the '00 Zin which will all be opened for Thanksgiving, and I have one bottle of the '04 Syrah.

The Saxon Brown wines are amongst the best I've purchased from woot thus far, and are the only ones I have sat on for significant aging (2 years by the time I open the Zin).

Let's look at it this way, I share my PoiZin and my Ty with the friends I like. I share my Saxon Brown with the friends I love.

I'm in for two if WD can guarantee they won't show up here in Houston heat damaged.
