ClareFree Labrat here with a report on the 2005 La Famiglia Barbera.
Thanks Wine.Woot Gods for picking me to sample this delicious nectar! I stand ready to review any wine woot for which you deem me worthy.
It arrived day before yesterday in an unassuming brown box, but little did I know that inside was a rich, deep purple, big bad Barbera.
I served it with a plate of Irish Cheddar and sliced crisp Opal Gold apple and the big Barbera stood up admirably to the strong bite of the cheddar.
The earthy mineral nose of the wine betrays it's chocolatey finish. It tastes of rich, ripe berries, black currants, and would be excellent paired with a spicy Spanish Arroz con Pollo or your favorite Italian dish.
This 2005 La Famiglia Barbera from the Red Hills vineyard in Lake County is a wonderful example of the excellent wines being produced there. Enjoy, Wine Wooters!
