Howdy folks - just a drive by here.

Skek, glad you're doing well. I still have all four of mine and am terrified of getting them out. You've given me hope that it won't be total torture.

Terri - yeah puppies! Can't wait to see the pictures. Enjoy those puppy kisses!!!

Thanks guys for the thoughts for us and Chester. Son woke up at 6:30 this morning and went downstairs and looked all around for Chester Cat. He then came running back up yelling for his sister that Chester and his bed was gone (I had carried him to the doctor in it and that's what he died in - nice and comfy). I was so zonked that I slept through it, but my husband went in and explained what had happened. Daughter was very upset. She's been crying off and on alll day, but I think she's doing better now. Son was upset, but I don't think he fully understands (he's only 5) or knows how to express his sadness. I'm doing better too. I knew I'd be sad, but I didn't expect it to be that hard.

I'm off to go have a big old bowl of ice cream with the kids. I might even give them some.

Sorry to hear about your cat. Losing pets is always hard. Enjoy the ice cream... I had some myself an hour ago.

Congrats!

They're cute! That's a pretty large litter! Of course, I'm not sure of the usual litter size for that breed. I shall resist the chop urge...

Silly man. You need to show the pictures of the puppies in a few days, when they are all dry and fluffy and cute.
What the heck is DW?

Speaking of dogs, I saw the silliest thing at Walmart today. I've been buying Blue Dog Bakery stuff for my dogs since way back in WA with Fred & Ethel. They've come up with these new 100 Calorie Packs though. Whew. I think that's taking marketing for dogs to a whole new level. I didn't buy them. I bought their new small dog treats (same thing) in the big bag. Maisy approved.

No. She gained on the visit last week but not enough to worry about. So little that it could have been different scales. However, her thyroid levels were now too high so they cut the medicine in half. She seems to be feeling much better -- peppy even. Doc says shes hoping for long term weight loss -- not a sudden drop. Maisy approved.

She gets walks every night. She can do about a mile before she's pooped out. She is getting older. I've noticed that her face is getting whiter.
Also, she never has understood how to play. I think there's a lack of confidence there. She'll wrestle a bit but that's it.

As wild & rascally as your boys sound, that might be a wise decision. Son had dogs from the get go so he got used to them early on. Fred, the bestest dog in the whole wide world, and Ethel were extremely patient and tolerant.

Hey fen! You like my puppies?
Since I do all the delivery and everyone else just stands around worrying. I guess you'd have to conclude that i am the one hunched over the dog in the one pic, and the one holding the whole passel of puppies (looking like sh*t). Remember, if you decide to chop me, I know where you live! or atleast make me look better!

So true... they are a bit rambunctious, but I think they could handle a puppy (they're fine around other folks' dogs). Anyhoo, I'm off to bed- gotta get up early and teach anatomy... Night all.

Mmmm dinner time!

We are waiting to get a puppy too, not necessarily because of the girls, but it would get a lot better training after they are better trained.

They trained son quite well. When he would toddle over to bug one of them, he/she would start licking son. That would tickle and distract him. Of course, there were the times when son would open his mouth and they'd start licking inside. We just turned our heads at that point.

I broke down and bought a book on hedgehogs. I'm still kinda wanting one but I think I'll wait a while. They live 4-6 years and a lot could be happening after son granduates HS and for a year or two after that. Sigh.

Dname, I can send you the book when I'm done if you like. It's the best one they recommend on them. You should look into them if you aren't ready to go to a dog yet. If you get a hand-raised one (don't go petstore), they really bond with their humans.
