This is getting quite annoying. I find myself starting to drink more wine just as I can't afford to. I suppose there isn't a good solution to this problem other than to just give in quick, eh?

I'm going to have to check, I remember seeing a Stomp! Wine at a local store. Maybe I'll have to buy a bottle of that to try/spend more money on to try to resist buying in soon.

Curious thought: Did the same winemaker make all three of these? That would be interesting... Looking forward to seeing/hearing from them! Well, most likely hearing, not seeing, but you know what I mean.

And I wonder how the Cabernet Sauvignon compares to the Red Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon? I tasted a 2004 recently, but there was just no body to it. I really hated it, and am looking to try something with bigger flavor, and I have no problem with an oak monster. Thoughts/suggestions? Would I be better off trying a Merlot for the flavor I'm looking for?

Informal Poll(though certainly offtopic): What is the Cabernet Sauvignon you most characterize as an oak monster, and how much did you like it?

Not too many to count, but dang. This place has a way of building a cellar for you.

Will there be LabRattage this week? If so, they need to get a move on, since we only have till Wed. I should say YOU only have till Wed., since New Hampsha is out again. I'm still curious to hear what the 'brats have to say about these, they look interesting.

I wish they would have an offer with shipping direct to Arizona-- Wootlegging gets a little tiresome.

What is Wootlegging? I have everything shipped to work (allows wine shipments in that state) and then bring it home (doesn't allow shipments). Is Wootlegging similar? I'd love to be able to shop direct somehow...

Wootlegging is for those who live on the border of states or in small states where they can have their wine delivered to a friend or another wine.wooter when the offering is not available to their home state but is available for their wootlegger. Some even rent out boxes from UPS or similar stores. Probably clear as zin, but hey, maybe you will get it.

Wootlegging is where you have someone else accept your wine shipment for you. This is normally the case where:
1. Your state isn't on the list, but you have a buddy whose state is on the list.
2. You can't accept alcohol shipments at work because your employer will not allow it. So you send them to someone else who can accept alcohol and is available to sign.

So, wootlegging is a little different than you describe because wootlegging normally has a third party involved - the wootlegger. But, what you describe is pretty darned close. SO, maybe you can be your own wootlegger???

I went in for 1. I have a lot of syrah courtesy of Peter so I'm really mostly excited about the cab. Looking forward to comments.

I'm finding many of the syrah's to be a bit too minerally for me, especially as they air out 30-60 minutes after being opened, losing their grapiness. What traits appear in this syrah?

Hi there:

I am new to wine.woot. What is Lab Rat?

The shipping to specific states is based on the licensing the winery has to ship to those states. It is really complicated and a real pain to get permission to ship. Some states are a lot harder than others.

Beginning the week of October 7, 2007, wine.woot began a new practice dubbed "Labrat". Customers can ask to be a Labrat by sending e-mail to labrat@woot.com. Eligible customers who make a winery purchase through Wine.Woot by 10 AM Central time Monday may automatically receive an additional bottle or more of that week's offer overnight. Labrats are expected to taste the wine and to comment about it on the wine.woot forums that week.

Now, quid pro quo: how have you been a member since July of 2005 and not purchased anything? Amazing!

Hey everyone! Corey here from Dusted Valley. My brother-in-law and co-winemaker pal Chad are happy to be Wooting this week. I'll start out by telling you a little about DV, BT, and STOMP and Chad will follow-up by starting to answer some Quest. We are all original WI Cheeseheads that moved West to start our winery in 2003. Dusted Valley is our high-end with total production around 4,500 cases per year. We'll be telling you more about the connection of STOMP! to Boomtown. But I'll start out by saying that the goal is to have these wines drink with a quality/value that is comparable to a higher price tier... Sound to good to be true? Have fun. Chad and I are really looking forward to having some fun with this. Good questions/comments already!

Corey, welcome. provided I was able to get these wines in my state, how would you characterize the Merlot. I find most merlots to be, well, bland and boring. There are some notable exceptions though so I know when Merlot is good, it's really good. Are you wines meant for food or sipping? I like both, but I like to know ahead of time.

Also, what does the Malbec impart to the Merlot? I don't think I've ever seen it blended with merlot before, though honestly I don't generally look.

What up folks? Chad Johnson here, co-winegrower in the Dusted Valley. It is a pleasure to be a part of the WOOT! I must confess I am a virgin – a virgin blogger. So, take it easy on this old man. Corey is my brother-in-law and partner in crime. If anyone is asking, we married sisters.

Questions: I saw a couple out there.
The STOMP story is true. We signed an agreement to be able to sell through the existing inventory but for some reason they don’t want us talking crap about them.
So, STOMP is now Boomtown same great juice different great name. The Boomtown lineup is our entry level wines and the Dusted Valley our premium wines.
For those of you out there in states that we can’t ship to, my sincerest apologies. If we are not licensed in those states there is an unusually high fee or it’s a felony. Take up arms and right your congress person. Prohibition is not dead it just being regulated by the three tier system.
