As promised, albiet a little late (longer-than-expected conference call), here are the live/on-the spot tasting notes... wine in the glass for about 15 minutes prior to first swirl.

The wine has a healthy magenta hue; aromas of a peppery, cherry pie (cue Warrant on the juke box) with a faint herbal note. On the palate, sweet plums, a little pepper, and cinnamon. Initial heat blows off after a few minutes, and you're left with a mild-mannered, lighter-than-some Zinfandel.

Not a big, jammy fruit bomb. Rather, a light, Tuesday night drinker. Or Monday afternoon at the office (if WineDavid is your boss).

I report to winedavid39...

I would be in for one, as I love zins. But I will not be home to receive shipment in 3 weeks. Alas!

Nothing like a bouncing enormously large gold button to motivate a purchase.

Unfortunately, I don't have that option- my neighbors would lock their doors, close their drapes and drink all 6 bottles.

I also hesitate as I like big, bold heavy zins like Rosenblums.

gtcharlie wrote:Have enjoyed every Sextant wine I have purchased from Woot and pretty confident this will be no different. I do agree with the earlier comment about a slight effervescence which aerating and a small amount of time eliminates. The previous zin was very fruit forward and enjoyable to drink right away. Suffice it to say I have none left and gladly went in for this offering.

That's enough for me. In for another half-case of Sextant.

Mine is on the way! Thanks for review! I had a feeling that at less than $11 a bottle it would be a 'good' - week night choice!

ORDER 37507882. Hello Woot Rep, when will a tracking # be posted for the sextant wines? Why the delay? Funds hit the credit card, ship it...

Wines don't ship from Woot...they ship from the winery. It takes a bit. But it's worth the wait. Patience...

The wine is nice, but is anyone else seeing an abnormally high about of sediment/cork/debris? in their wine?

stratma

quality posts: 11 Private Messages stratma

This wine is obviously unfiltered. I don't find the amount of sentiment unusual. A while back I had a Wellington Zin that had enough sediment to fill about one half the neck of the bottle. I considered that a lot of sediment.

BTW this is a very nice wine.
