D&D this weekend, good for them.

Sake tasting this weekend, GREAT for me.

maybe, it's a japanese store down the street from my house. Though EVERYTHING is down the street from my house it seems. I live the perfect area of town. Didn't plan it that way, just kinda worked out.

Anyway, I was there this weekend getting some Udon and that no calorie noodle stuff, can't remember the name. Anyway, they have basically exclusively Gekkaikan or whatever Sake, which I've never been impressed with. But free Sake is free Sake. I'm sure I'll buy a bottle of something.

Also, Sake One must not sell here at all anymore. I can't find it anywhere I used to find it. Sadness.

Are wine prices next? Also, Pinot prices dropping while Merlot prices rising a bit.

Is is wrong that that inspired "Hakuna Matata" in my head? The title. Not the album. Since I don't know the album. Or any of the songs on the album, for that matter. Was never a huge fan of The Police

Ugh! How can anyone not be a huge fan of the Police! Songs about nuclear war, stalkers (before they were called stalkers), corporate greed, dysfunctional family life impacting future relationships, D/s, general anarchy in the streets... All with a kick-ass backbeat. What's not to like?

I've recovered!! Friday night had what I think is highest fever I've had. Set the electic mattress pad at 10, even though I have never had it higher than 2 for more than 15 minutes. SWMBO put another blanket, folded over on me. And I finally stopped shivering. Nothing else felt wrong, just the fever. But I was beat on Saturday. And that was the day for my daughter and a dozen friends to party. All but one spent the night, all over the house.

It is great that ours was the house to come hang out at. We knew all her friends and from that, knew she made good decisions. And it was really fun seeing all of them again.

And she will be here to have Valentine's dinner with my wife and I. Omaha Steaks filets and a great bottle of wine.

Ahhhh, it's in April's list. And you can say that again ... many times I've thought I hit the reply, but hit edit instead. Or is that the other way around?

Pinot has doubled if not tripled over the last few weeks in Sonoma County...2011 marks the 3rd vintage of a shortage thanks to Mother Nature.

Is that bulk wine prices? I can't imagine any grapes running around at this point! Are there different prices for young bulk wines versus aged ones?

2014 - 20 Btl. Fjellene (10 bot), Urraca Chard (10 bot)
Last purchase: 5/3/14

2013 - 75 btl. 2012 - 98 btl. 2011 - 112 btl. 2010 - 30 btl.

sorta. there's an entire wine-making channel in negotiation. if a winery feels like they need cash flow now, or maybe could sell what they have in tank/barrel for more than they could sell it for in a few years...many factors and money is talking these days. wineries who lost grapes are digging hard for good juice right now, I heard of an offer recently for $50 a gallon for totally mediocre 2011 pinot noir juice. Good wineries will hang onto every bit of juice they have and possibly try to source more from reliable others.

I know of winemakers who are sourcing wines/juice from outside the US to make up for short Cali vintages. Growers right now are also in the drivers seat, asking to review contracts and gaining some lost $$ from former down-years. A big under-current of inventory needs swirling...
