Woot once again kills me as I have no room for another whole case right now...may be interested in a split though if anyone in the DC area is interested?

Wow, I'd really love to buy in with you again. But, with what we already have coming, I'm pushing the boudaries of 'domestic bliss'.
I'd be happy to *wootleg* for you though, if you decide you want to go for the whole lot (or split with someone else in MD).

I bought this last time it was offered and it was fantastic! No complaints. Just not sure I can add 12 bottles right now. Then again, I'm not sure if I can pass it up either.

WineDavid and wine.woot Staff - Thank you for today's highly attractive offer. I'm in for one case and - if I may - request the 2005 as the additions to the '03s and '04s in my order. Big thanks!

I hope you can sleep at night knowing that you just made me buy 3.

I remember liking a Tempranillo, but I can't remember who made it. At this price, another box on top of all the others won't be noticed by the SO's watchful eye. There goes my SIWBM again and again and again.

This is the second time a tempranillo has been offered and I haven't been able to get any because NH isn't worth the license fee.

Does anyone know why NC isn't listed a state you can ship wine to? I've done it many many times and it's not letting me purchase this deal.

That didn't take long. This month is my woot birthday month and the fine people at woot provided me with a birthday shipping gift. Needless to say it has just been used.

It is done by winery. That is what people are going to tell you. Each winery has to have the license to ship to your state.

However, as I already complained about, I bought the last Truchard offering for this Tempranillo and it was available to NC.

What gives?

Thanks woot!

Couldn't resist. I am guessing I am going to get the 05 (Since there are less cases of the 06, and it is currently up on the winery's site.) Assuming so, any suggestions how to try a vertical tasting concerning opening/decanting?

Should they all be opened at the same time, compared, and enjoyed as they open up? Or, should I stagger the opening times (05 first, 04..) until trying them at the same time. Or does it not really matter?

Holy Cow, the button is already bouncing. Maybe the fastest sellout ever? Glad I got in even though I still have 7 from the previous offering.

They all sound delicious and (if the Woot Gods were to bless me with good luck) the 2005 in particular sounds amazing.

I got in for a case just before the sell out, hard to beat the price. Seems like it'd be a crowd pleaser when you have people over who aren't worthy of your good wine. Plus that price if the wine isn't great Tempranillo works great for sangria.

dejspin wrote:Anthony this seems like an outstanding value, and appreciate you sticking around to answer questions. For serving these do you have any recommendations on foods to pair with the various vintages? Also, a random question, is your Truchard family any relation to the the Dr. Truchard who is CEO of National Instruments Corp (NASDAQ: NATI)?

Yes, like the Lab Rat recommended the 2003 would pair well with fatty meats. We had it with Jamon Iberico drizzled with olive oil last night. The pairing was magnificent. I find the 05 similar in style to the 03 and would pair with the same things. The 04/06 are also similar to each other in being more concentrated fruit flavors and drink well on their own. I would probably pair these with foods that are not as fatty because the wines already have a nice richness. Probably more chicken and lamb and great with olive tapenade.

And, yes, James Truchard is my uncle, the brother, of my father who founded the winery.

We are fans of Temp so are looking forward to this. Not familiar with the vineyards. Are they truly from Napa ??

We've had some from Europe and Santa Cruz but that's about it.

We are truly from Napa and, even more impressive, the wine is 100% estate grown. My family has been growing grapes here since 1974. Please do come visit us the next time you are in the area. We are one of the few vineyards doing Tempranillo in Napa. We also do a few more fun and interesting varieties like Roussanne, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. Hope you give are other wines a try sometime.
