TIME: 5-7 PM, 2 hour sail around Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, etc.

It will be held aboard the Shearwater, a 1920's, 82 foot yacht. It sails from lower Manhattan (Battery Park City), rain or shine.

This sounds awesome! It depends on the date, as July can get hectic, but I would love to join in, as would my husband.

Ooh! This sounds VERY interesting. Agree that dates will be a major factor in this, but count me on the interested in learning more list.

For a theme, since we're blending the various east coast w.w groups, how about setting the tasting around blends?

Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Coro Mendocino, Conundrum, TyTanium, Titus Lot 1, Chocolate Block, etc.

Nothing labelled or traditionally a single varietal wine.

Could be fun. Blends can be the winemaker's top expression. I'd pop a Monte Vide Eu or two if we go with it.

We should also be able to find a way to get some wines that would be considered exceptional that would normally be out of the price range of affordability for most of us if bought alone. Basically by combining funds and all that. After all, if we're going to have like 40 people and 10-15 wines, there will be plenty of room for the pooling of funds for some great bottles (even if we aim for 2 bottles of each wine).

That would work wonderfully for me, so I don't have to check a bag

Usually I turn red at w.w events after even just a sip, a boat would have me turning green! Take lots of pics so I can still enjoy the trip - from terra firma.

This sounds friggin' fantastic. Put me down as a maybe but not the same maybe as JW and Sparky. I refuse to share my maybe with those two yahoos. Huzzah for my new free RT ticket from Southwest!!!

rpm +1 a maybe -- depends whether we're in California getting the daughter settled or home.

Just returned from 10 days in San Francisco and Napa with my daughter (#2 - Linnea) who is moving to SF this Summer with an actual job. Spent the obligatory time apartment hunting with her and showing her the ropes of SF with old friends and my older daughter's friends, and had some wonderful days in Sonoma and Napa, which may be the subject of further posting and perhaps even future woot loot.

Tourists will note that we actually managed to get Linnea and WineDavid into the closed off old cellars at Buena Vista.

Not sure where you would plan to fly into (as Southwest doesn't fly into either LGA or JFK) but if it's ISP (Islip MacArthur) that you would fly into, I might be able to meet up with you as it's only 30 minutes from me. It's the airport I use most of the time.
