Yep, just found out yesterday!

The 21st, I'm busy 12:45-2 p.m. (In CH, so as long as our get-together is local, I should be able to make it be 2:30 or so, maybe 3:00 or later to be safe.)

You're, perhaps, thinking of Greenville, SC which is indeed in western SC. Greenville NC is very much in eastern NC, being home of Eastern Carolina University and all :-)

I'm in the Hickory, NC area so if a Charlotte area tasting is arranged sometime in the future I'd definitely be interested!

I bartend every night at a Greensboro restaurant. We have all the glassware and seating we'd need, and for some sort of very nominal fee, I'm sure I can convince the owners to let us have a wine party all to ourselves (closed to general public, our own wine, etc etc). I'm sure they'll want us to buy food or kick a corkage fee or something, but it is central and easy. Let me know if you'd be interested...

I serve Wellingtons, Dry Creek, Pedroncelli, Clos La Chance and some other stuff there regularly, so there are four woot wines already. ;)

What restaurant MM? This sounds like a great idea to me, but I'm biased since I live in Greensboro. That said, even if a tasting doesn't work out, it sounds like I need to come sit at your bar!

I've been checking out this thread for a while and depending on when/where I may be able to get up there for it. I have a ton of family still in NC/SC (Elk River, CLT, Davidson, Chap Hill, Greensboro, Rock Hill) and could turn it into a dual purposed trip if all the stars align just right. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what the final time and place is once you all (or more appropriately: y'all) have it worked out.

what part of Australia? I have been to Brisbane- had no time to go to wineries as I was working :-( . I hope that you're having a little fun if you're there over the holidays. I would be happy to drive to the Hill. My quasi step dadughter is in school there and I go to see her at least twice a month.

Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney - and also up to Newcastle later. That's it this trip, though I have been to Australia many times and various other parts on former trips. Most of my family's here so I'm always on holiday when I'm here, luckily!

FN: if you make it to McLaren Vale, try to visit Thorpe Wines. Their 2004 Reserve Cab may very well be the best CS I have ever tasted. I found it at a blind cab tasting at Fowler's where it beat Silver Oak, Mondavi Reserve, Latour and Ferrari Carano... at 1/4 the price. I have one bottle left and if this thing goes off, I promise to bring it along.

We could do Durham if that's more central for more people, which seems to be the case, if anyone in Durham wants to host? If no one in Durham wants to host....as always I'm happy to host in CH, though my house is a bit hard to find.

I am unfortunately very sensitive to cig smoke, so I would not be able to attend this. I appreciate your honesty! And it being your own house, you are definitely allowed to do whatever you like in it, IMO.
