He needs a scanner/copier/printer. I'm thinking the HP Photosmart C4180.

Any opinions?

Ms. Daj,

Speaking as someone who knows nothing of such things, I think I'd consider the printers with completely separate ink cartridges, so that I wouldn't have to replace all the colors when just one runs out. Does this printer have that?

Mr no1, you still sound like qwerty at times. Even though I know for sure you aren't.

It has 2: Black & color. Found it at a great price on Amazon with free shipping so I ordered it.

So my Dad has given me the task to get him a somewhat inexpensive PC within the next few days. It needs to be with a monitor (doesn't matter what kind, cheaper the better) 17" or larger. I'm thinking something around the 1.8 or 2.0ghz. Maybe something that could possibly handle "The Sims 2", but I doubt he'd actually do gaming. I'd like for him to have the option. I'm not personally keen on the idea of Vista, so I'm scoping out things that are XP Pro or XP Home. Oh, and it should be a desktop. I'm trying to shoot for under $350, but I know the monitor and OS thing really throw a wrench into the mix, as I have been looking all night through random deals to see if I can come up with something. I did see Dell just had a sale that ended yesterday, so maybe on Friday when I have the funds something will be just as good. Any brand suggestions are good.

And yes, I can build him a PC, but it'd probably cost more/parts alone. It'd be easier to get it as a whole unit in this case, considering budget I want to work within. Suggestions?

If you don't mind a refurb (rox0rz!), look in the dell outlet tab on their website. Also, they have a separate site for corporate lease returns. They are sold without monitors and application software. Some may not have an operating system included.

Its supposed to rain all week. Makes the kids restless. Plus I worry more about the eldest driving by himself.

I can always tell how much rain we've had by how my back door behaves. If it is too wet, the door swells and is difficult to close. If we are short on rain, the door shrinks enough that it won't latch properly.

My back (kitchen) door is like that in the winter for some reason. Hard to close and open. I wonder if it is because that part of the kitchen is raised about 6 feet off the ground and when the ground freezes and thaws it shifts just a little.
Hmmm....makes sense, I guess.
