It's funny how Veriscellars stopped responding once the negative comments and/or concerns were made. I would think the winery would chime in to defend and/or explin its product but maybe the wine is not that great.

Robust defence in a positive manner can work wonders here for confident winemakers. See how things changed for Suncé once they learned how to engage properly, and I believe they made some good fans and converts.

I have valued these boards for their honesty, robustness and willingness to engage deeply and amusingly with winemakers. Long may that continue and be encouraged by woot.

To be fair, all of those winery responses were from late last night. They may just not have been available today.

There was something VERY VERY WRONG with that wine. I would assume someone would have mentioned if the more recent offerings had the same problems.

OTOH JanKris really should never have sold that stuff back in 2009- no way they didn't know they were unloading garbage on us or they would have at least offered refunds to us... No legitimate label wants stuff like that out there with their name on it.

I truly do not know whether or not to just trust Wine David on this one. He almost always hits a home run. Guess I am in for one here.

I had three bottles of this (from a previous Woot) and opened one up to tast it this morning and it was Great! I jumped on a case. Very smooth, not bitter. Great buy for the $$!

Can you really order 2 cases of this? The normal WW limit is 1 case.

I'm regretting the "Toolbox" Woot a couple of weeks ago...I hate to pull the trigger on this if it's as bad.

Well I am in for 1.

Was on the fence about it all day, but thought what they heck, sounds like a decent deck drinking wine. And if I/We hate it, there is always the MIL to gift it too! :-P

Hehehehe!

Has anyone actually received their order yet? This was my first wine Woot, and I have to say that I am not very impressed (yet).

I got the notification that my order shipped on the 16th.

FedEx tracking only shows that the label was printed. Nothing else since. Is this typical?

I am a padawan when it comes to wine, so I was hoping to get my feet wet with some of these deals. Am I impatient, or is it possible that my case is just a box of broken glass, cardboard and wine stains?

EDIT: Ok, it looks like was picked up late last night(5/21).

Mine was delivered a little while ago, I'm aiming for a weekend cork-popping. Will report back (as long as the stuff doesn't kill me!)

I haven't tried it yet, but my two wine-ordering buddies did. One simply said it was "delicious", the other said he and his wife (who generally leans toward pricy French wines) finished a bottle. They both loved it. He said the the color was kind of ruby, and it didn't hit him over the head with alcohol. Sorry if that isn't descriptive enough, but for $8, sounds pretty encouraging.

We got our case this past Tuesday, opened a bottle that evening and were pleasantly surprised by this wine. It'll make a great every day wine, good for picnics, pizzas and pasta. Great value.
