Now...someone recommend some recipes to use these in? :-D

4 big portobello mushrooms
toast some pignola nuts or slivered almonds
natural chevre

2 options:
a. slather the portobello's tops (gills side up, silly!) with chevre
sprinkle either the toasted pignola (pine nuts) or toasted slivered almonds on top of the chevre-covered portobellos.
Grill (covered) until mushrooms done.

Just before serving, drizzle VERY lightly with some high quality honey.

Option B

Prepare a baking dish with about 1/2 inch of home made or quality italian red sauce.
Slather the portobellos with chevre and spinkle with one or the other nuts as detailed above.
Bake in 325 over for about 40 minutes or until mushrooms done, whichever comes first. Do Not drizzle honey on this one.

Our mixed couple (one veggie, one not) friends demand the red sauce version when they come to dinner. The non-veggie can't normally stomach the veggie meals their friends prepare in deference to his veggie wife. But he loves this one.

Their purple haze is amazing, too bad it isn't part of the deal. Regardless, their other Chevre's are just as good. Definitely in for 1!

Wine Woot needs to have a random grab bag like regular Woot does. Just sayin'.

Pixiedoodle11

anyone know if these are kosher certified?

Crovin

I can't get in on the wines because of PA laws, but perhaps I will get on the goat.

$36 on your web page for me after shipping and that is for one less cheese. So $36/5 = $7.20 each where they are $4.67 each from woot. which is almost 50% more.

Edit...after reading the description from the gourmet-food place, it is the same package. so $36/6 = $6 each...so still $1.30 more.

In for two. As much as I like WD's wine selections, the cheese selections are probably even better.

I'm just hoping the money I'm spending during this wootoff takes care of my gifts, or most of them.

As far as I know, they are not.

EDIT: When the Trio was offered, the only company that was Kosher certified was Pt Reyes. That combined with nothing on google mentioning Cypress being Kosher, which would surely be a selling point, leads me to believe they are not.

Goat cheese does marvelously when mixed with a good fresh shredded mozarella and some basil, salt and pepper and stuffed into chicken breasts. Lightly flour the chicken breast, season to taste, cut a pocket through the side (takes practice), stuff in your cheese mixture and broil like there's no tomorrow. It's amazing stuff, we're actually having some one day this week (whenever I get around to actually cooking).

i *love* cypress grove. My god. I almost died when I saw this. I almost bought TWO of them, until I saw my order summary and thought "wow...I'm not sure even I can eat quite that much goat cheese".

But I thought about it. I'm STILL thinking about it. I mean hell maybe I need a second one for ... something.

How about some gundlach to go with this order????

Here's a hypothetical situation (*ahem*)

A poor graduate student making $10/h has the opportunity to buy this cheese for his goat cheese obsessed girlfriend.

does he a) buy the cheese and give joy to his girlfriend

or does he a) comfortably pay rent and pretend he never saw this

Hope they open a cheese.woot

Edit: And I see above that they are not.

I have had the pleasure of eating this cheese before and it's delicious! If you like chevre, you'll love this North Carolina chevre

Depends. How much joy is she likely to give in return?

PS, my two fav's were definitely the Pepper and Herb. Horay for goat cheese stuffed chicken wrappen in bacon with home made mshed potatoes with a goat cheese folded in. Oh gosh...

Oh man, I seriously have to make that chicken now! Thanks!

I like to put chevre in a shoot of endive and then sprinkle the top with pistacios and dried cranberries...very tasty with a nice white..

It's also good on top of a steak. It's also good in a cheeseball with fresh herbs and roasted nuts.

I live in southern california too (OC) and i am able to get this around. Henry's always has it but sometimes the prices are ridiculous...then again one time we got humbolt fog for 14/pound *dies* and lived on it for like 3 days. Check your local Fresh&Easy stores too -- for some reason one of our local stores carried it for a while. Unfortunately no one who shopped there seemed to buy it so they stopped carrying it but when they did the prices were crazy reasonable.

You're still not gonna beat this deal though, I think you should start counting out your change jar and see if you can make it work.

Whole Foods, at least in Ann Arbor, also carriers a decent selection of Cypress Grove's cheese... especially Purple Haze.

Thanks David!

I do love the Purple Haze but geez Cypress Grove makes good stuff. The most accessible place to purcase nearby is Whole Paycheck. Need I say more?

I was napping. Joel forgot about the wootoff and I couldn't hit the big gold button fast enough when I opened the site.

Good cheese!

Cheesemines

Shelf life on the fresh chevre is 12 weeks from when you receive it, as long as that shelf is in your fridge.

On our (Cypress Grove Chevre) website, you can find info on handling and serving suggestions, pairing and some great recipes

http://www.cypressgrovechevre.com

I like it scrambled with eggs, over a salad, with fresh berries . . . somebody stop me.

Have at it, and enjoy!
