2006 was only a side deal offering last year.

According to my CT, I purchased 2006 from Woot on 10/15/2007, not the side deal.

2005 from Woot on 10/16/2006.

Side Deal was for 2007 vintage Oct 12, 2008. There's also some decent tasting notes in that thread...

The 2006 was one of my favourite woot.wines of all time. But that was over a year ago, and my palate has changed quite a lot - though I still love and drink a great deal of Zin.

I am in for one, but would up to 3 based on rattage or if I were ratted and my palate still loves it. I had to greatly restrain myself not to order 3!

I enjoyed this wine just this past weekend. It was tasting well, with a nice balance of fruit, tannins, and alcohol. I would recommend drinking within 3 years. At this price it is a better bargin than the local tasting room, charging $23 per bottle (at discount). It is a great wine to make an impression at your halloween party, and not scare off your friends!

On the product description it says "If you're drunk when the package shows up, you will not be allowed to receive it".

Is this actually true? Is there some regulation that you can't deliver wine to drunk people?

Yes, that's the law. Though certain UPS delivery people have been known to bend that rule once in a while. It's also (technically) required that they check your ID to establish that you are of legal drinking age as well, and my UPS guy has never asked me about that, and, judging from his response to the one time I did, he doesn't often ask others for ID either.

My biggest problem vis a vis purchasing this offer is that I am pretty overloaded on 2007 zin at the moment. 2 Wellington Vertical 4 packs, and a case of the Boss Monster makes 2007 Sonoma Zin a pretty significant portion of my holdings right now. At least I have a week to think about it!

Not too many to count, but dang. This place has a way of building a cellar for you.

I do not understand - Last year the 2007 Poizin was a side deal because there wasn't for the main offering. I purchased 3 bottles. But now, instead of the 2008 Poizin, we're getting the 2007? How is there enough 2007 if there wasn't enough last year?! When will the 2008 come out?

In Chicago we did a 3 yr vertical tasting of the 2005, 2006 and 2007. I don't keep tasting notes, but at that time, we all liked the 2005 best. I haven't opened another 2007 since.

IIRC the 2006 was liked the least initially, but after the night wore on and it had time to open up and lose some of the alcohol heat it was much better.

I am so upset right now! I literally just sought out a wine store in my area that sold this and forked over $55 just to get TWO bottles! That's it, where's their refund policy?

Poizin is definitely on my top 5 list of Zins. Was introduced to it at a Xmas party (where all of them came in their own coffins) and really enjoyed it. Bought my first Poizin two years ago from this site and enjoyed it thoroughly, still have that first bottle up on a shelf.

These won't come in their own coffins, but I'm seeking if I can justify going in for three (nine bottles)... And darn, payday is Thursday.

OK,what's the ideal drinking window for this? To what extent might it be infanticide to drink some now? (Though zins are often good early drinkers they may not be at their best).

How does the 2007 vintage compare with recent vintages?

I'd say the window on this is now through about 2015 or so.

2007 was a good year for Dry Creek, with a slightly lower alcohol level than in previous years (this wine is 15% ABV IIRC, as opposed to prior vintages that float in the 16-16.5%). The '07 Dry Creek zins I've had have been quite jammy-fruity.

Wow,what a great thing to wake up to on a Monday! This wine is awesome, glad to see it again. In for two; very much available for rattery!!

(does "please labrat me" grovel-dance)

*EDIT* Note that I have had this from previous years; have not had it for the year listed, thus my extreme enthusiasm in trying it. This wine, BTW, is my favorite for BYOB dining.

Any chance that these are the etched bottles? Oh, nevermind I guess they are not the reserve. Would rather have 1 reserve than 3 of these.

AHHH!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing these guys back, WD!!! I don't even care about the rattage this week... well, that's a lie. But thank you. This one was an extremely easy decision. Happy one week early birthday to me.

Darn.

I just drank my last bottle of the 2006 (I think) a few days ago, and was mourning not having any more.

And here it is! Sadly, my wallet hasn't recovered enough from the WootWine and the Iron Horse stampede to dive in.

But buy it if you can! Assuming you like zin, you'll love this!

In inverse and not complete order. Pepper Bridge. Saxon Brown. Monkey Prize. Vina Robles. Ty Caton. Roshambo. Polyphemus. Donati Family. Poizon. Montinore. Kent Rasumussen. Mumm Napa. Boss Monster. Iron Horse.

MmmMmm.. I may have to pick these up, I wooted the 2006 or 2007, don't remember which, and it was very good, and I just couldn't wait long to open it up. It came with two Poizins and one smaller bottle of Antitode.

Since I plan on bringing out the Humbug wine this holiday season I will have some room for these. In for one for sure.

I would need some heavy convincing that this had been toned down from the two previous offerings. I've preferred much less expensive zins (wellington and pedroncelli among them), as far as previous offerings go.

Not to mention the case of Boss Monster that just arrived...

I was quite excited when I saw this pop up. The 2005 that I ordered back in 2006 was my favorite wine offered during the wine.woot beta (and I ordered them all!) I can't wait to see if the 2007 holds up as well. I was on the fence about how many to get, maybe I'll be a lab rat and can pick up 6 more at the end of the week!

Poizin (2005) was my first woot three years ago. Taking a 2006 with me to MN, as my in-laws liked this wine.

WD - if I come up for labrat, I have an alternate address to use. Will have the 2006 for comparison. And staying with my MIL, so you know I can use it.

I'm trying to decide about it. I don't need anymore zin around with the Boss Monster and Tin Barn coming this week, but the bottle looks like it might be too cool to pass up by looks alone

Maybe there's someone else and we could split up two orders?

This is just downright mean. One of my favorite wines in a time period where my budget is already downright booked. (Just in the realm of gaming: Mass Effect 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins... never mind the trip home to visit family...)

Gatz - we got a couple orders, so when your budget permits, you're welcome to grab one or two bottles from the cellar at cost.

Without a doubt, the 2005 Poizin was better than the 2006. Can we get someone to share how 2007 compares to 2005?

I also remember thinking the 2005 Antidote was delicious, but we haven't seen that offered lately. I guess the Armida Winery expects we have built up enough Poizin resistance that we don't need the Antidote to survive.

Apologies to a previous poster, but it absolutely blew away the Boss Monster for our un-expert palates.
