Is It Just Me, Or Is This Room Side-Scrolling?
These days, when we hole up in the basement to get away from the world, it’s not to play video games. But sometimes, we miss that old 8-bit mojo…
No,we don’t rescue many princesses these days, or shoot many laser bolts at many slavering abominations while avoiding their many tentacles. Just not part of our lifestyle anymore. But while our tastes have matured, we haven’t lost our craving for adventure – blocky, crudely-rendered adventure.
That’s why we’re hitting RESET on another bottle of Boss Monster by Woot Cellars. Made from grapes grown on the hillsides of the Dry Creek Valley in northern Sonoma County, this 2007 Zinfandel delivers the fruit and spice characteristic of its native valley, sweet ripe blackberry laced with the tiniest dusting of black pepper. It’s a power-up you can get without breaking some bricks with your head. It’s an enchanted potion you don’t have to buy from some hut-bound oldster who only knows three sentences.
Don’t look for the GAME OVER screen anytime soon, either – because now that we’re featuring a new wine deal three days a week, we’ll be extending the Monday Wine.Woot offer to last all week on its own page. In other words, this wine just picked up an extra life.
Boss Monster got us so nostalgic for our youthful gaming days, we hauled out our old consoles and fired them up again. And you know what? Maybe the games aren’t as challenging or interesting as they used to be. But they start looking pretty amazing after a couple of glasses of Boss Monster.
